oDesk suspended my account and kept my earnings, is that legal?

    Hey Guys, oDesk suspended my account and kept my earnings with them.

    I have contacted the client who they specified while suspending my account and the SHOCKING THING is client is not having any idea why they did this :(

    Now I called my client and ask him to ring and talk to them but they TOLD, this is CONFIDENTIAL, we can't disclose it.

    Now, my $2000 are with odesk and they are not even responding to my requests.

    My client tried to talk to them almost 3 times but they gave the same reason :(

    The agent who is handling my ticket is closing the ticket again and again after I open it :(

    So the main thing WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW? :(

    Do i have any option? :(

    This is so BAD!!! :( really sad... how can they keep ur earnings like this??? If you have all the proofs and documents to support your work n the client is ready to help y dont u try taking a legal advise for the starters... do as the attorney says and see what happens

    Try and get in contact with someone at oDesk via phone rather than one of the support monkeys via support ticket. Always go for phone support for anything remotely important - with support tickets you rarely get anyone with any power to do anything.

    No reason at all. And you know what, when i started questioning them, they said...okay you can work on current contracts and blocked the payment option.

    that means my profile is now private, i can't apply for new jobs, can't withdraw funds, but have to work for current clients for FREE.

    They are charging clients on every Monday, but not giving my hard earned money.

    I mean, are they making a joke out of it?

    I am seriously pissed off.

    Asked my client 3 times to call them, he did and the same reply WE CANT DISCLOSE THE INFORMATION.

    I mean what kinda bulls**t is this? :(

    Did you ask for payment outside of oDesk? Did you scam someone on the platform?

    I am not saying that you did any of these but these are typically their main concerns.

    in your mind is yr account fully normal appropriate? I mean, everything are legal?

    is your client, and the way he paid normal? here: maybe the money you get from yr client is very suspicious!

    They just pointed out a single contract and wrote - because of some issues with your contract, we are suspending your account.

    Again, i immediately contacted the client (who gave me that contract) - and guess what - He was enjoying his weekend with his family, still he messaged me in the evening explaining that he is not having any idea about what i am saying :(

    Yes, they didn't give me any reason.

    It's obvious, if client is paying someone and the guy who is working for him is working properly, both of them are happy, how come odesk can f**k that person's life :(

    Did you contact them through phone or via facebook?
    They seem to respond everyone of there fan page right now.

    That is weird but is it a temporary ban or a permanent one. Since they are allowing you to work on current orders, it may well be that your account may be under review.

    How long have you worked for your client ? I suspect that the client made a chargeback and tried to scam you.
    I had similar issue years ago with freelancer.com - both of our accounts were suspended. In the end the funds were removed from my account and the ban was removed.

    This is why I always move my funds off of Elance (minus fees for the month) as soon as I get paid.

    Elance just killed a bunch of accounts, so it makes sense that it trickled over to oDesk. Everyone claims to be innocent, but I suspect that the main reason these companies get rid of an account is when you fuck them out of money. In other words, get paid off of their platform. I never understood why anyone would do it unless you are asking for full payment upfront. Elance's escrow system ensures the person has money. I have had good and bad luck with hourly payments. Never had problems with escrow other than getting people to release, but you can have them release it at least in 30 days automatically.

    Still, it's scary when you make a good living off of their system. They treat their providers like trash but the shitty providers are the ones that give us all a bad name.

    Odesk Policy is Really Really Bad.. They Suspend my Account just Because of the Buyer Ran away without Ending the Job.. Now when I contact the oDesk they said, contact the Buyer and ask them to close the Job with proper Feedback and the Suspension will be removed... Now where the hell I wil go to find those Buyer.. They have their Contact details so they should Contact the buyers..

    This is really Shit kind of Policies on odesk which Suspended my 3000Hrs of oDesk profile...
