On October 17th, Google announced the ?Disavow Links? tool launch in Google Webmaster Tools....

This tool gives you the ability to inform Google to ?ignore? specific links and domains from poor quality link-sources of the links linking to your site. If you were hit either by penguin or panda, this might look like the answer to your prayers....But This innocent tool might be the end of SEO as we know it...
Google?s new Disavow Links Tool allows any site owner to upload a list of URLs aiming tha Google will exclude this site from the G algos...

The downside of this? Quite evident: Millions of webmasters will be submitting long lists of low-quality sites, which Google can then use in its algorithm to penalize the site maker but also averybody else that has a link coming from this site, even if this webmaster has reported nothing, and any site linked to this sites.... this is like a nuclear reaction...

Of course this is pure speculation on my side, but im afraid this tool opens the door to vital information for google, that can get incorporated into its algoritsm, data that they never had at this scale before....

What do you think of this?

I think the point you make is 100% valid and I think it is hard to do to others unless you have links on the same sites considering you have to select the site that was targeted from GWT and it would be tough to explain why you are disavowing sites that you have no links on.

Also if it werent for the neg seo spammers no one would use this tool at all.

It's still very soon to tell whats gonna happen with the disavow tool.

I find it interesting that Matt Cutts stated that websites should still remove backlinks first and foremost before using the disavow tool. My instinct thinks that Google's not really gonna let the tool be that powerful at all. Which is why the still recommend removing links.

I have one site that I got a penalty removed from by using linkdelete.com services. I'm gonna try on two more domains, one without removing links and one with removing links and using the disavow tool. We'll see what happens.
