Hello everyone,

I am here with an observation. Bots are NOT killing your engagement. Your garbage/recycled same as everyone else content is. For the longest time I attributed my 17.6k fitness account's engagement plummet to my vast use of engagement groups/bots/purchased followers/ etc... But then I started botting my dog's account. Not only did my dog double his following 511 to 1100ish(Small I know, but it is continuously growing. See below) in less than a month. The engagement has consistently gone up as well as my organic reach.

Basically I believe people are seeing a loss in engagement due to saturated niches and the general populations knowledge of botting. Most users on instagram are fully aware a big chunk of their engagement/new followers are engaging in some sort of botting. This in turn makes the demand for high quality fresh content skyrocket. If you are going to bot and use engagement groups you better have some KILLER content. People will accept botting and follow back/engage if your content is worth it.

The problem is most people are focused so heavily on the engagement/botting that their content is cookie cutter and stale. This leads to their accounts plummeting because people realize the person botting does not care about the community/building relationships AND the content isn't good enough to back up this activity. Basically, if you are going to bot you better make sure your content is absolutely killer!

What does everyone think?

I think you about hit the nail on the head mate. I know alot of my content on my accounts is shit, and I honestly would probably see some really good engagement gains if I put any work into going over a daily campaign or anything like that. But yeah. We are lazy and prioritize shit badly.

Lmao I am the same, I can't think of really any content for my personal fitness page. I have tried adding better production quality to the vids but at the end of the day its not THAT interesting haha I have focused some more on pictures as well now.

Idk man, thats a completely different niche. I think ANYONE could have a good ER if they had a cute cats account. I mean that is what the internet is created for right? I do agree though somewhat. People are only willing to like things they REALLLY like these days. Thats why I am changing my style for my account to tailor to the irresistible shit that I see gets popular. I may be a sellout but one day I will be a rich sellout.

Your dog account is at 1k. You might get away with botting for a while but once you are on the shit list it will be the same as your fitness account. Did you consider that? I paid for my own photoshoots of fitness chicks on my own accounts. 110% original and quality content that used to get a ton of engagement. I still got fucked so your theory has no merit.

There’s some validity to what you’re saying. A lot of us overthink our content and end up posting what’s basically the same as everyone else.

That’s fine that you had high quality content but high quality original content could still be overlooked if it’s repetitive or just not as appealing as you think. It’s just a theory I have. Everything is speculation with IG lol nobody has concrete answers :)

This exactly. You're right about it looks bad if you repost stuff and it looks like you don't care about your followers.

But... Your accounts are relatively small. I have 20k accounts that get horrible engagement due to autolikes, engagement groups, etc. They hardly get comments if any, and maybe 20-50 likes on their own now.

But that small 5k account I made a few months ago gets 300 likes on it's own and 15 comments. And I'll have to agree with the last 2-3 sentences too. I also upload original content and have shit engagement.

My advice: Bot a little, but not to the point where your accounts are hitting 15-20k

P.S. Shoutout Desus & Mero

Did any of your post hit explore page yet?
I think no :)
Usually hand grown accounts with quality posts hit explore page when you are at 700 - 800 followers

You have a point OP but not all people have the luxury time to get quality content for their accounts in bulk... so i'll stick to the quality i can manage to get. :)

Not sure if they have but buzzfeedanimals shared one of his videos awhile back which was awesome. Got over 60k views and a few hundred followers from that.

I’m botting accounts in the 100 thousands and am receiving 10-20% engagement, because it’s fresh, original content.

Everyone blaming the bot, or the algorithm, or the business account - your content just sucks.

It doesn’t matter how great your engagement is, engagement only results in more REACH, not more engagement. At the end of the day, people will only like your shit if it’s good content - regardless of how many powerlikes you buy.

There is some truth to the statement, your settings will play a huge role in your engagement rate.
Reposting only the best engaged content will definitely help, along with targeting only people who engaged on posts and blocking ghost followers/bots.

Total agree, 2018 means top notch quality content across the board, not just in social media, now days if you don't have quality content your done. With technologies like ( opencv computer vision) its way to easy to recognize rehashed reused old content. The old days of reusing and recycling are over.
