Shows that even if you use TOR (which is rumored to have NSA backdoors and NSA operated relays), nothing can bypass hardware unless you build it yourself. See why it is so hard to create a startup computer company? Too many hoops and such are made to allow microsoft and apple to completely monopolize the market, which is ok with the FEDS as long as NSA can install backdoors in their software and hardware.

Even if you use linux other OS, it doesn't matter. Hardware overrides software.

This is only 1% of the documents released, if this doesn't show that the NSA has gone to far, then I don't know what has...

basically it scares me because them `muricans decide my fate on this planet, even if i like it or not :) I'm guessing the whole population of the earth should be allowed to vote in the US elections and have representation in the US congress ... there's only ~ 320 million of them and yet they have the fate of 7 billion people in the hands of the most black hat agency in the world...

This NSA being contacted by aliens, parallel universe NSA's or even GOD won't surprise me.

Well, exactly...I realized very soon that the easiest money to be made comes from people's stupidity.

I dont care what the NSA has put a backdoor in. As long as they don't steal from me or jeopardize my work somehow, I could care less.

Your work will actually be theirs before and without you knowing it. Back in 2000 there was a rumor that whatever you send through Hotmail, it automatically becomes the property of Microsoft Inc.

Long story short, uncle Sam OWNS you and what's remotely connected to your name, no matter what you do. They can pull up anytime from your iPhone X that foxy brunette's phone number that you don't even remember meeting in the first place. Basically you would have to go back to a cave and even then it would still not be safe.

Of course the NSA has gone through your trash, at your house and on your network. The scary thing is we do not know what they have physically on the backbone pipes and dark fiber. UUNET controls something like 80% of the dark fiber in the US and a majority of the internet backbone and guess who they are owned by? VZ wireless or one of the carriers that just rolled over for the NSA and any other agency that asked them for a favor. your internet life has never really been a secret I wish we could assume some sort of privacy but with all this coming out ipv6 is just going to make it easier to address more things directly so your privacy is going to get even more scarce.

And this is why they have come as far as they have. People are afraid to stand up for their basic liberties and instead continue like nothing is happening.

We haven't even seen what the 99% other documents could show what the NSA has done and will keep doing.

People need to keep their governments accountable, and thankfully, Edward Snowden is one of those that stood up for our rights.

Whether you hate him or agree with him, he has exposed how the NSA has completely taken over our privacy. I believe yesterday I saw something about iPhones are now totally exploitable by the NSA as well?

The sad part is, people still continue on with their pathetic 9-5 lives and pretend nothing is working. They just put in their headphones and think music will soothe their miserable lives.

A little part from the conspiracy theory:
    They are Illuminati, right?
One of the main rules in Illuminati is reverse writing, right?
So, "Illuminati" will be revers wrote "itanimulli", right?

Now, go to Google, and type itanimulli. Did you found the answer, right? ... No?:(

If you want privacy, use 1024-4096bit encryption that has not been created by the NSA (SHA). People claim that they have broken that, but quite frankly it is probably bs. And what are you going to do about it? Nothing, people can be aware, but if your busy worrying your life away about stuff like this, then idk what to say.

It is all just a false sense of security. No matter what bit encryption you use (even if it isn't created by them), they will find a way past it. It is confirmed by Edward Snowden that they have supercomputers that can crack it, has the mass media said anything about it? No.

Ok, lets be reasonable and say that that kind of encryption can't be cracked by the NSA (for now).

    Let's look at their options:

    1: Backdoors in browsers
2: Backdoors in Email Providers (gmail, live, yahoo)
    3: Backdoors in Operating Systems
    4: Spyware in USB Cables

Just a few, I'm sure there are many other things such as vulnerable routers, connections to VPN companies, ISPs such as Verizon, etc...

And I definitely understand your second argument, people shouldn't be worrying their lives away, but awareness (which I agree with) is a must.

Here's the problem: People work 9-5, come home, watch tv, and do they see anything about Edward Snowdens latest leak? No. All they see is Obamacare, Flu Vaccines are important, Weather, and Miley Cyrus. Even if they do, they don't care about it because they need to tend to their own lives which is totally understandable.

The problem I have with that is that we have a duty to hold our government responsible and to be informed citizens. That is what democracy is all about!

Nice post, I truly do feel that all this corruption is coming to an end soon. There is too much awareness, and too many open source alternatives for everything for this to continue.

    New open source browsers
    Distributed, and encrypted p2p messaging
    open source operating systems
    creating your own cables

all this is coming with this crypto anarchy revolution taking place, alot of it is already here. Technology will always be 1 step ahead of surveillance

I hope so although as much as I want to be optimistic about it, all I see right now is our president defending these programs, confiscating our guns, and taking our freedoms away (Effectively wiping away our 2nd Amendment and some of our 1st Amendment rights).

Not that it is Obama's fault either, he is just a puppet, like George Bush was, played by billion dollar corporations so they can have their "say".

Outside of the US, things are flourishing I would like to say. From the cryptoanarchism I talked about, to seasteading, to new political zones being built. There are alot of new options coming out too. People can always emigrate to different countries. I am investing in a community in Chile called Galts Gulch Chile and the investors are pretty much building a sustainable community, and promoting things like Bitcoin to organic farming, solar electricity, and political zones within the area. When people see better alternatives, they will leave and immigrate somewhere else and take their entrepenuarial skills with them.

Was anyone under the impression that once the technology to track its citizens every move was developed, that it wouldn't be put into use immediately?
