Anything on the Huffington Post is supposed to be wonderful, right? Now everyone is selling posts on there. Are they going to be useful anymore?

I thought those HP were never indexed in the first place. Only some that were upgraded to editor (or very popular) will have the link indexed? Or is my understanding wrong regarding this?

Generally the cheaper services that have sprung up are absolute garbage - the majority will never get indexed so you might as well burn the money.

I honestly don't get the hype - yes if you are a brand have a larger website, you want referrer traffic and a mention pay the $500 (or whatever it is) but just for another backlink I think the money is much better spent elsewhere.

I do not think that they will become useless. What I am sure that Google will do is changing the algorithm used to do all these indexing. That is what they have been doing over the past years with SEO. You need to always know that they are also on the look out and a lot of research is happening behind the scenes.

This. At last, someone said it aloud. I don't get the hype over Huffington Post. People tend to think it's some miraculous backlink, which will make you rank above the bar in Google or something. No. It's just another backlinks and you can spend those money much more effectively.

Where could it be spend more effectively? It's still a link from a high DA site.

For $500 I would rather build 10 PBN sites or got 10 real guest posts than one link from Huffington post.

Oh, not to mention, all thoe 10 PBN domains might have some authority backlinks, so why the fuss... I have no idea.

Probably the better bang for the buck. But if it's actually a good article and gets some attention obviously it would be worth it. But with these, it's not very likely. However, jumping back to the other side again, say it actually was a good article and you spent $100 on FB ads, people are more likely to share an article when they see it's on national news website. I got mentioned in a free Huff article and spent a bit of money promoting it. I don't know if it helped, but it ended up getting a good ten links from authority sites. Also it looks more legit than a homepage PBN link. So I think they both have some advantages depending on the content and how you use it. Would I spend $500 on it? Probably not. $200? Probably. I also got a tiny mention in a featured New York Times article, to date it has probably brought me in over $150,000 in sales, and they still trickle in even though it was a year and a half ago.

Yea right, you got 150 000 dollars just because of one backlinks that got some traffic. For you to make that much money over time from one backlinks is... well, it doesn't happen that often. Its different if you think that is link that rank you and because of him you got 150 000$ from your money site. That could work, but I doubt one link is enough to rank you for keyword that brings 150 000$ a year.

You probably misunderstood. It wasn't about backlink, it was about traffic from that article via the backlink. :)

This. I have no idea what the link did in terms of SE ranking, but it brought a ton of traffic to the site.
The oddest thing is is that it doesn't show up in ahrefs.

Still, then this article should bring millions of readers per month, because lets say 5-10% will click on backlink :)
And you would need millions of people to earn that money :)
Its possible, but if it happen to you that you must be really lucky!

To be quite honest I did try out a couple of guestpost services here on BHW and 98% of them posted half-spun shit on public pbn and didn't even bother to create social media profiles for the website. The links shouted PAID so loud i had to plug my ears to not disavow them. So i dunno..real links are expensive and these huffpostdeals are actually quite decent (the ones that get you an article on the frontpage for 700-900€).
The traffic should be well worth it...now is it a good backlink? Well certainly helps, but won't probably push you to #1 for any keyword worth that name.

besides: "As seen on Huffpost" just sounds better than "as seen on 10 random PBNs u never heard about". But obviously, if you spend that money (or any money for that matter), you really have to work with the results.

A featured article on New York Times will more than likely get you 1M views in a month, if not a day. Honestly wasn't expecting much out of it, maybe 1-2 sales. I was the only company linked and it was the last paragraph in the article, so I didn't think I would get much out of it. Plus my product isn't something you just go out and buy, but the author gave a great review, and I guess if you're a respected journalist, people trust you. It was insane. But don't forget that's not nearly all profit. And yes, was really lucky.

I am getting Huffpost link at 200 and will be giving it try soon. I have read a lot about huffpost link helping ranking in big way . My current keyword ranking is 23 rd position ,will share ranking effect after I buy and see the results.

I'd be cautious with that offer, tho. May sound like a steal but you may actually get nothing from it. Good luck!

Since HuffPo opened up writer accounts the spam is quickly increasing and there's no doubt that the link value there will be decreasing. These high PR news sites look like the new guest posting.
