The goal is to have an affiliate niche site in my home country. Kinda standard with products in a certain niche that are in the range of ?50-?150. It probably be in the baby products niche. Site would a standard review and compare site with an emd.

I would really love to make a review site in my own country. There aren't a lot of those, so people aren't used to them yet, Google is not as strict as in the US, supposed to be easy to rank (I have done it already for a hobby site, pretty easy to get in top 5 with a emd). Although the monthly searches are nowhere near US searches, I still feel there is potential here.

    But...

If you look at the SERPS though, they are almost always the same. 1-2 is a very trustworthy consumer site, 3-4 is the consumer portal of this organisation, 5-6 is a web shop (there is a company that has different online shops where the name is an emd) and another emd web shop. They seem very difficult to rank to me.

How do you evaluate these kind of serps on difficulty? Is it worth to even try to get a niche site up?
