Check wifi adaptor driver. It's common in old laptops after installing OS you have to manually install the WiFi/Network driver.

You can download the drivers online.

You need to install the proper wifi driver for the exact model of wireless network adapter you have in your notebook. You can find that out with a tool like AIDA64. You need to know, if your Windows is 32 bit or 64 bit and install the Windows 7 driver accordingly. There are certain tools, which can help you out finding the driver automatically like Driver Booster.

With Win 7 you usually need to install drivers manually, which is not the case on Win 10.

So, now I was finally able to install windows 7 on my old laptop. But it is not showing wi-fi connections even when the wi-fi is on. What can be the issue and how to solve ?

Have you installed your device drivers?

It's definitely related to the drivers. First and last time I had to install win7 I had the exact same problem with connecting to the internet. You can find on internet the one you need or if your pc is enough powerful to install win 8/10. That's what I would recommend to you.

The model is compaq 620 From official HP site, I see this : https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/compaq-620-notebook-pc/4158455

Which driver among these listed I have to install ?

Delete network adapter and let it auto install the basic adapter. Once you have internet you can 'check for updates'

Also is he adapter enabled(most people forget to do that!!)

could ask you why don't install win 10 OS instead ? win 7 outdated and MS not supported it anymore .

It is an old operating, core 2 duo processor. Though ram is 3 gb I think windows 10 will drain a lot of it.

All these network drivers or any specific one ?

There are multiple wifi drivers try installing anyone and check if that works.
For Ethernet you will also need LAN driver.

Wi-Fi adapter needs a repair/driver
