Noobie guide on how to fake the referer??

I've stumbled across this site a couple weeks ago and it has a lot of good info. I have a few of really good ideas on how to draw traffic to my affiliate links using primarily CL. I know you want the affilate company to not see that the traffic is coming from CL but rather a Blog or website.

I was reading Brads posts and am really confused on how this all works blanking the referer. How do you incorporate all that code into your link. Is that even how you do it? Thanks everyone for the help.
