My site is indexed and I was ranking for my keyword which I have an EMD for (exact match domain), it was on page 5. I searched my URL in quotes today and saw that some of my backlinks I ordered the other day are starting to show up, but now I am not ranked for the keyword at all anymore.

I am pretty sure I have seen somewhere before that when this happens, it means you are being moved up. Is this correct?

First, never check your rank position using your normal web browser. Use a software like Rank Tracker or something. When you search in G0ogle putting the phrase or word in double quotes, you are asking G0gole to show the result with all the sites containing the exact phrase or a word you mentioned in your query. It is completely normal for your backlinks to be shown in the search results in this way.

If I'm in a rush and I want a quick result I use Mikes Search Engine Rank Checker. You can find it by typing in Google: Mikes Search Engine and click the 1st result. Put in your URL & keyword and you'll get the ranks.

For long term projects and multiple keywords & URLs I use Market Samurai's Rank Checker.

You can use your own browser but have more than one open, like Firefox / Chrome and be logged in one and not in the other.

When you disappear from the engines after backlinks it IS often referred to as the Google Dance but it's undecided whether you're going up or down. If your link velocity is out of whack it could move you down.

Download Link assistants Rank Tracker from the downloads section.

    Thats a fairly accurate tool.
