I want to noindex a few pages on my site that are related to a bigger higher converting page,a about the same topic. What I don't know is, Will Google count these pages if I noindex them? What I mean is will Google still give me credit for having these pages on my site or will they become completely useless? My hope is that they just not indexed.

I think that if you just use no-index G will still count the page, and give you credit for it, but just not include it in its results. But if you add no-follow to that, then G will not include that page to its index and also will not give you credit for it.

So no-index is fine and still gives you ranking boost, but adding no-follow to that will make the page completely useless in the eyes of G, because he will not even visit it.

I hope that someone else can verify this because I am not 100% sure :)

That's what I assumed, but I thought no-follow attribute was just for the comments on the page haha.

Well no-follow is a tag for links. And if you always link to that page with a no-follow attribute, G would not even crawl that page. But if someone else links to that page without a no-follow tag, G will crawl it and even if says no-index it should give you credit for the content. Thats what I meant :)

So just don't link to that page with a no-follow tag and G should give you credit for the content but it will not include it in the SERPS. :)
