Nofollow links DO count - Here's proof.

    I recently added a link to about 500-1000 classified ads I have running. Purely as a landing page. I had no intention of ranking this site at all.

    Quite by accident found that the domain is on page two for the keyword the in the anchor text.

    I can assure you the links from these sites are absolutely nofollow.

    Apprently I have enough of them that it matters!

    This kills a couple myths for me.

    1. A link Doesnt have to be on relevant pages.

    2. No follow links DO count.

    What's the competition for your ky? There could be other explanations why you are on page 2...

    While I do think nofollow links have a big impact, it isn't necessarily that the links themselves added to your rank. It can just be the content which made you rank, and that the links simply allowed the spiders to jump to your site.

    I have made posts on my blogs for VERY competitive keywords on fairly crappy autoblogs, and ranked top 10 and got 5,000 visits with NO links to the page at all. Google just LOVED my site for the content.
