I'm a web designer with about 50 clients. All of my clients' sites link to me with my chosen anchor text.

    My question is,

On my company website I want to link to the sites I designed but I worry if I give a reciprocal link to my clients' websites then I will lose some SEO juice with Google.

Does adding a rel="nofollow" help me? Am I worried about nothing? What's the best way to solve this problem?

Don't use nofollows like that. Think of nofollows like condoms and links as getting a blowjob from the site your linking too. If the site is sketchy and might be diseased...put on a link condom!

full disclosure: I used a horrible analogy...but I bet you won't forget it!

if your linking back from a links type page with little or no PR . .then what link juice are you losing? ... don't be so mean and spread a little love ...

I bet all those sites you have done are linking back off the main page . .i don't see a probklem at all ... it always amazes me on how little designers know about SEO and link power... and if they don't know it, how the hell are the clients going to know?

    then,

Do one way links from the sites I design (from the client to me) help more that reciprocal links between my site and my client's site?

If I want the maximum amount of link juice and to not have google think I am building a domain wheel then will (a) nofollows and (b)robots no index no follow meta tag on my client list webpage help my own seo for my site .

My site has about 95 pages and all are ranked well so I don't mind giving up one page to not have the search engines look at it.

In answer to your first question, the answer would have to be yes ... but I would ensure that you only direct one link back to you from their main page . .any links on inner pages of your clients website could be pushed through to a blog page or somewhere else ,,, this will ensure that you don't get the dreaded site wide links back from totally unrelated websites ..,

being a website designer should not kick up any red flags if you handle it correctly ...

and don't forget that when you do link back to their site via an inner page of yours the amount of juice going back to them would be diluted by a factor of 50, if that is the number of client websites your pointing to ..

    making sense yet?
