Ok, I have been using my secondary comp lately, and have it kept pretty clean, very clean actually. For some reason I can hear my hard drive, which sounds like it's doing double time (kinda squeaky almost).....could this be the work of botnets or something similar? I had my aircard connected earlier sitting idly while I was working in another room, when I came back it said something like 130kb/ Received and 11.08 mb/Sent ......What the hell was my computer sending out....11 megs? I wasn't even using it, nor had I used that much before I left. I use MalwareBytes to clean my comp, I know botnets are pretty hard to detect, it's the only thing I can think of, but I am relatively new to that whole concept. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Could be the harddrive having physical issues--disks spinning at 7200rpms tend to be noisy when they're having issues.

You may be infected by a rootkit, which can hide processes, viruses, etc.

I will try hijack this but I am very unfamiliar with which processes should and should not be running.

As far as rootkits, I have the full version of Malware Bytes Protecting me constantly, so I would think that it would catch the rootkits....however after spending some time on underground forums (way more underground then this) I realized that hackers / botnet owners/ etc are waaayy ahead of the game, I just didn't realize how prevalent it was.....or I woulda been making alot of money a long time ago ;)
