    Hey guys,
So I was just wondering if the 500 word or more for articles even applied to easy competition keywords.

Let us take long tail pro's metrics for an example keyword.

Let us say I found a term with 20 search a month, competitiveness number is 11 and cpc is $1.00.

Do I still have to write a 500 word article on such an easy term or can I just go ahead and write a 300 word article? And is it smarter to target a lot of such terms with such searches than go for higher terms with more competition?

It's a myth. I've seen a website ranking with 30 words of content for 1k searches. It was easy competition, but it was still above yahoo answers.

Also you can't really judge serp competition by adwords competition. Those are two completely different things.

Thank for your answer but I was not using adword's competition anywhere. As a matter of fact, the only place I use adwords is the 1.00 cpc in order to help people judge if it might be worth following for the click. The keyword competitiveness module can be found in "long tail pro" which is a software.

You can definitely rank with fewer than 500 words on the page but it will be EASIER to rank with more quality content on the page.

20 searches a month? You could rank with 20 words :).
