    Hello
    Iam a beginner and some help would be highly appreciated. My site is 2 weeks old indexed already, but when i type my site name in google
    it comes up with archive pages, tags then contact,about pages and one post only. Now i realized that no indexing tags and archives are necessary, but should i also deindex categories?

    Iam using Yoast plugin, deindexed tags, but archives were already deindex by default, if its deindexed how can it show up in google?There is an option to "disable" it, should i check that box?

    Just to make sure it disappears i added this line to my header php:

    <?php
    if(is_archive()) { ?>
    <meta name=?robots? content=?noindex,follow? />
    <?php }?>

    So my questions are:
    Is it good now and arhive pages will shortly disappear from google or did i do some mistake?
    Should i also deindex categories?

    I read phpbult's onpage guide, he says we should deindex it, but many suggest to let them index because it brings a lot of traffic.
    Advise please!

    Home Page:
    I do nofollow/noindex on categories, tags and archives. Make sure your posts/pages have strong internal linking instead.

    Thanks for the tips.
    But what about the no index code?Is it alright or do i have to do anything else?
    I used to have a few MNS site 2-3 years ago and they ranked on the first few pages of google within days without submitting sitemap,indexing or even adding more content, this site is still nowhere after two weeks.
    Did things change that much during years?
    Should i start worrying or is it still too early to see results?
    Thanks a lot

    I would recommend you do noindex/follow, there is no reason why you should make a page nofollow.

    If im wrong someone let me know.

    Also I only do this for tags and archive but not for categories.

    I like to build some web 2.0s and profile links to the category pages then I boost them with GSA SER and that link juice gets sent to all the post in that category. Gives you a nice little boost.

    I do not find any issue in getting the tags and categories indexed and followed. Just ensure that you do not have the full posts on these pages/posts, they should be just excerpts. Having full content can make it look like dup content, else you should be fine with indexing everything.
