No Follow? But I'm THERE! What the hell?

I've installed the ChromiEdit plus plugin for Firefox which clearly identifies any NO FOLLOW links by putting a big honkin' box around it.

I just updated my website and I'm cruising this high PR forum which matches my niche, but I notice they only have NO FOLLOW links. What the hell, I post my website link with a description.

12 minutes later I'm flailing away on Google, checking to see my if any of my social bookmarks got indexed. I then spot my link from that high PR forum on Google! (I told ya it had a high PR!)

I went back and checked the source code from the forum posting. Yup, there's clearly a NO FOLLOW tag snuggled up next to my URL. What the hell is going on?

I thought NO FOLLOW meant nada. Was it because Google hadn't found that page elsewhere, it just went "what the hell"? Most of my site isn't indexed yet, but this page now IS. Did Google basically find it, but doesn't value it as a link for me from this site?

Google is just being Google.
It's their favorite thing to do.
(Which is to remind us all, yet again, that nobody
but Google can guess what they're gonna do next
with their lil' ol' search engine that usually can't, but
sometimes actually does. :D )

Personally, I don't mind letting them believe that.

'Scuse me while I adjust my big black hat on the way to
church, y'all.

I thought it meant that the links didn't pass any link juice, but I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to SEO.

Nofollow means that the Google bot will not follow it, there is no SEO value, the only thing you stand to gain is a bit of traffic. However, the big G is always changing things and in the future it's possible that they decide to start following nofollow links.

As far as I know, rel=nofollow links are crawled but they don't improve the ranking.

You know what? We really don't know. Google's official thing said that links don't pass PageRank. But do they pass Authority? Also apparently people have "proved" that Google does follow nofollow links for the purpose of indexing new stuff, but may not assign pagerank.

How is this going to make me money? It can't. My task is still basically to find "do follow" links.

yeah something similar happened to my blog the other day.
I left a "external No follow" comment and G00gle blogsearch considered it a backlink
and after two more days all G00gle blogsearch backlinks of my blog just disappeared.

and there's no sign of em till date :(

I have youtube and yah00 answers backlinks credited to my domains in g00gle's webmasters tools. Maybe they don't pass page rank but they are followed by the bot.
