Hi,

Last year i had some very good success with a few sites that i made, all of them were exact match domains in small niches,

I was very happy because they didn't take a lot of work to stick in the first spot, all i did is i threw some original content in them and build a few links using the Angela packets and submitted some articles to ezine and i was done, they got to the first page in less than 3 hours and after a week they sticked in the first spot and they have been there for almost a year.

Now i became afraid of buying domains + sufixs or prefixs, because i'm afraid that it's gonna take a lot of work and it might not work ...

So i want to know, how difficult it is to get the first spot in keywords with low competition keywords (less than 30-20k) when you don't have the exact keyword on domain ???

P.S: i know how to analyze the competition, and i know that the number of competing pages is not everything.

Ranking never depends upon one factor, keyword match helps in it but you can still rank.

I ranked for acai berry with a new domain name which got no keyword in it... It's not ranking any more but it had in past and done very good... It was ranking for few months before it went down... All i did was angela and paul packet over there... Now it's sandbox because I overdid it LOL I had similar results in several competitive niche..
Now I concentrate only on permanent back links (quality theme based back links)

SO in my experience it's possible to rank without keyword in your domain name... :)

Yes Possible Exact Keyword In Domain Isn't Some Thing Necessary

Its Just From On Page Seo .

Exact Domain Without Good Content = Bad Ranking

I have a bunch of sites that rank without a keyword domain. While it helps you do not have to have it. You can still get the keyword in the domain by using domain/keyword.html. which seems to work almost as well. Make sure your tags and descriptions are in order and you should be good to go.

I agree with others.. Its not just the domain name but the content, backlinks, SEO that brings your site on top.. Think of authority sites, they don't have keywords in domain names but still they rank high for hundreds of keywords ..

Don't give up dude

Using prefix and suffix doesn't matter. even if your site is say weighlossabc.com , google still reads it as weight loss. Rest other factors are there too.

As far as my experience tells me that if i have keyword in the extreme left of the domain name then my site will rank higher in lesser time and with lesser backlinks. This means you save 50% seo work and time too.

i would not say no rankings but needless to say, having a domain with the exact phrase helps tremendously.

Do a search for any keyword phrase.

Do you notice rankings there without the exact match domain?

That should answer your question.

Yes.. and the answer is.. it doesn't matter. What really makes your site rank is how your brand it via the keywords and content you utlize within the site.

Suppose I registered something like.. forgetcash.com and my keyword was 'credit card merchant account' because that's what I offer. Google will recognize the branding being associated with the keyword, and make you rank for it. Don't believe me? Just search for the keyword I just suggested, which is a very high competition one. Do you see any domains in the top 10 that are an exact match for their domain? Nope.. you got company brand which have identified themselves as that keyword.

Go ahead and register whatever you want. Then brand your site accordingly for what you want. Only place you want to put some weight in on URL exact match is in the pages/directories you create.

Have fun.
