    Good evening everyone.

I live in a small country in Europe. Most retailers/service providers etc do NOT make any serious effort to advertise through the internet where I live. I think there is serious potential to gain an edge on a business I have in mind, by managing to get to google's first page (ie saving on advertising).

I currently have a website in development that I want to come up when VERY specific search terms come up (eg "SEO" together with "my city's name").

I have already done a few google searches on my own, and I think the path is relatively "clear" for me in terms of competition, since I'm after such specific niches. I am talking about manual labour here, advertised online. I am targeting people people looking for a plumber/electrician/gardener/pool boy etc etc in my particular city.

I do not expect to gain anything from advertising.

    My questions are:

    1) Is this the right place to ask ? Apologies if this is not, please direct me to the proper place.

    2) I want some links, things that could be a good starting point for me to read/watch, about this particular thing I want to do. I am a bit lost in all the information in the forum, and I am not sure how much is of relevance for my circumstances.

    3) How feasible/optimistic do you think my idea is?

Many thanks in advance guys, and I apologise if this is too much of a newbie question

Before you choose a niche to rank, make sure enough people are searching for any given service to make it work well for you. So if the Go*gle keyword planner is a bit difficult for you, then you can try other free programs like Traffic Travis and the such and make sure its geared to your country first to check monthly searches on keywords.
Then you can make you you meet real need.
Have you used the advance search on here to find what you need?

What you have in mind is called local SEO. The only difference between what others are doing in the local SEO arena and what you intend to do is that others are carrying out local SEO work for businesses owned by other people while you are planning on SEOing your own local business. Search for 'local SEO' using the search function and you'll find lots of helpful information.
