I have checked all my websites with Nginx performance is not good so migrated to Litespeed. So I would say LiteSpeed is good for me if we talk about website speed.

Custom Hardening and Security > Nginx
Litespeed > for who doesn't have a lot of knowledge, easy and very fast. Currently 10x more Faster than apache.

Litespeed have some better things in load of servers. Nginx also does very well the job.

It will depend. Certainly Nginx is more highly customizable than Litespeed, experts Community and regular updates.

Litespeed is superior if you value your time, and want to get the best possible performance,
even if you customize nginx it still won't offer the same features and speed Litespeed does.

People still seem to recommend nginx either because they are cheap or because they are hobbyists (nginx has a lot of possible customization which can appeal to some) or both

Don't get me wrong, nginx isn't bad at all, far from it, but it still won't provide you anything close to Litespeed, especially with plugins like WordPress, if you value your business and SEO, you probalby would want to get the best performance, as webhosting is relatively cheap

Litespeed webhosting is often expensive, example fastcomet monthly plans with Litespeed Server ist at $19,95 billing monthly.

Use a good webhosting then setup good theme and jetpack boost and use keycdn as cdn, with this your site will load fast in 1,5-2 seconds. Litespeed will not make that faster I never have seen full page loads faster than 1,5 seconds, maybe 1 second but that is very rare.

With my Fastomet high webhosting plan I be satisfied yes $19,95 billing monthly is not cheap my second webhost is nexcess on same price monthly tha's around $40 hosting monthly billing.

With fastcomet as example my sites loading fast cheking with the keycdn performance tool I not need a cdn, my sites load fast in usa, canada, uk and europe, australia is around 500ms that's good enough without cdn.
Maybe a $9,95 monthly plan on Hostinger will have the same speed (for 50% less cost) .

You now see on many websites who using cloudflare cdn this when it loads the page:
"Wait we check if the connection is secure " (or similar) and you must wait another 5-7 redirect seconds , who needs that crap? But millions of people worldwide like that (?)

I have low salary in europe internet costs raising up it's hard.
$12 canva
$40 webhosting
$20-30 social media growing tool
$30 Internet data flatrate (my LTE)
$18 fiverr create some stories
$40 monthly electricity...
$60 Linkedin.....
ufffff.........

I see that you buy many hostings, sometimes is not the hosting issue or performance.

Maybe is your theme with full of widgets, sliders, full of plugins or heavy themes (with bad coding)
The best way to test it is to use other CMS like Data Life Engine for example is a good alternative to Wordpress.

Or using a Simple Wordpress theme, cache and less plugins and using GTMetrix, Google PageSpeed, Pingdom Tools to check the Score and speed of your website.

Sometimes the load you see is not fault of hosting, but let me tell you for example GTMetrix have Germany locations and many more.
If your server is in Canada the ping will be more higher if you choose Germany location to test it. If you use US to test it, it will be lower.

Those tools are a estimative and of course your internet speed (ISP) is also important.
Just because is a little slower for you, doesn't mean that is slower to all europeans.

You can use this tool like (HTTP and Ping to test from several countries)

-----

Nginx is free, LiteSpeed is paid.
Yes you have Openlitespeed which is also free, but Nginx is much better because if free and have many features and configs in Github.

LiteSpeed is good if you have a paid version or if you are new, is good because of .htacess compatibility (apache).

Cheers

Did you read what I told you? Looks like not.
Read the post above, that explains why your website is loading "slower" 1sc is not slower at all...

Cheers

Rawr420;

no, my website design is not finished yet, not full of widgets and sliders and all that crap, not using Elementor using gutenberg blocks.
I have 8 plugins thats all and a theme form the jetpack. This standard theme loads full page in 1,5 seconds you can not call that really slow.

I mean in front of my desktop it loads around 1,5 seconds the theme page. Ok the image on front page is loading slow that (it's not a big header) I think that has to do with the jetpack or Litespeed cache plugin settings...

Example install a wordpress theme and show me a webhost in that $19 monthly billing price range or who is cheaper that is loading a full page in front of your desktop faster than 1,5 seconds.......

May be possible with a vultr vps who all the things who are include in a webhost plan must do yourself...(I hate this complicate shit...)

I have used both Nginx and LiteSpeed.
Don’t expect much difference but I prefer LiteSpeed because it provides it’s own Caching plugin ‘LiteSpeedCache’ which is free.

I hope not I need jetpack because of it's beautiful wp themes....better to customize for me than the wordpress org themes ..

Both better than apache but if you're happy with NGINX stick with it

If you need Critical CSS/UCSS generation to remove unused CSS that is not free using LScache plugin. The plugin devs force you to use their service, Quic cloud, and charge a lot of money for it. Plus everytime you purge the cache the plugin generates all of the critical CSS again. So everytime you edit or publish a new post you wind up paying a bunch of money (depending on your purge settings).

It's cheaper to go with paid plugins like flying press or WP Rocket, which generate Critical CSS without charging you.

You can do many things with Nginx, such as doing your reverse proxy, LB, Apps Web Server and does caching aswell. It opens up the space for building your whole project stream in containerized apps and self-detached from other env's. As it's being an integral part of K8s it handles millions of API requests to n fro to serve the needs. We've been using most of the web apps running with the support of Nginx.

If you buy a shared hosting, choose Litespeed server

If you buy a VPS and setup your web server - Nginx is the best choice because it's free, reliable and a lot of free control panel there, ex: Hestiacp - which I am using.

Nginx is more customizable, so it require more linux knowledge.
Litespeed is the perfect replacement for apache, litespeed even uses apache's htaccess.
Litespeed also have a free version called Openlitespeed which is what i use.
It is all down to your choice.

My problem is with vps getting ssh connection today.
I tried azure, google cloudvm and Hetzner.

Google cloud makes it easy fo rme to get ssh connection with their own ssh console. Create an instance and all ssh keys are generated and deposited within the instance. Open the ssh console an type in your commands- is that easy, no root, password or ssh key failed, permission denied, or hot key verification failed errors.

Azure and Hetzner:
I tried it with keys and without (using root password) none of them worked to get ssh onnection.
I got errors, permission denied, hot key verification failed, fingerprint has changed- permission denied and more of that.

Was not able to get ssh connection, it is like I pay money for a server (vm) I can not use , because the OS image (sshd config) is preconfigured, so that you not can use it with root password neither with ssh keys. This is way more than being shady.... maybe it will be more easy when you have putty, but I have a mac, mac terminal and mac tool Hyper = no success to get an ssh connection, they showing me the same errors....

Then I tried to edit the sshd config file with nano, set PermissionRootLogin from forbidden to yes, disable ssh keys, use ctrl-x, close and restart the console. No success- after that I got another errors like hot key verification failed.....can not open lock file, etc, etc, etc...

So I using web hosting, not a vps where I can not get an ssh connection with the console.
On azure ssh console the same: my root password not accepted, permission denied, hot key failed and all that crap.

I wonder that people using vps today with all these errors. You must hire a programmer who can edit your ssh config file so that you can use it.

Happy sunday !
