I am having trouble finding information on how to start a news website.

Basically, long story short, I'm starting a niche news website that will be (mostly) automated. I know SEO, I know I just need content (news) all that fun stuff. Setting up the schema, I get it.

Beyond the basic SEO for any website, and signing up for site news aggregators (Google, Bing, Yahoo, Apple, etc), is there anything else I need to know about starting a "news" website, specifically, in terms of SEO?

Best of luck, you're good to go, how do you deal with copywrite in images, any automated process to edit them before posting?

What's your news site?

I'd like to see what's on it.

Live - nothing but a domain. www.michiganinsurance.news

Still working on the website itself.

But the niche is insurance news in the state of Michigan. Rate, rule and underwriting, and form changes. Also we have weird personal injury protection laws which essentially, there's a state fund involved, and the charges and rates are changing in that as well. There's other information too that's publicly posted such as policies written in Michigan, etc. Among other articles or commentary.

The idea is to, at the end of each news publication, or article (or blog), have a CTA for an insurance quote which will either be me and my agency, or I'll sell the quote to another agency if it's a better fit / pricing. The article or blog style, more casual posts, I (linking to my agency website, of course), would be the author of.

Also, once I finish the API and building the database of existing rule and underwriting, and form changes, I'd have "calculators" for semi-unique situations, such in-home daycares and the underwriting rules around the, for instance. (how many kids do they allow, does that include your own? etc). Basically you fill it out and the idea would be to point people in these situations in the top 3-4 carriers that actually accept their semi-unique situations versus having them filter through the top 25-30 insurance companies in the State of Michigan.

I was also thinking about having a mini-tort claims generator, basically Michigan is "no-fault" but you can recover up to $3000. It's essentially a letter you have to send to the other party's insurance. Have it send to their email which also gets them to opt into my email DRIP.

All in all, pretty dry content but it's content that consumers should be made aware of. I'll also have a little zest from the articles and blogs which hopefully Google likes.

My site is very factual; it's public information for insurance companies in Michigan. With my elementary understanding, as long as it's related to the content, make it clear that I don't represent the company, or post disparging things, then I should be fine.

I'd also add a disclaimer, perhaps in the footer of my web page with something like:

"All logos and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. The use of logos in news articles is intended for informational and editorial purposes only and does not imply endorsement by the trademark holders."

EDIT: Didn't realize I bumped my thread, or at least it wasn't my intention. Sorry mods!
