A Microsoft engineer discovered a flaw in one of Microsoft's payment testing systems and exploited it for over $10 million in profit. The flaw allowed the engineer to generate unlimited Xbox Gift Cards, which he sold in bulk on crypto marketplaces for a discount.

He used money laundering sites to hide the trail and started living an increasingly lavish lifestyle. He was caught in July 2019 and was sentenced to 9 years in prison, plus ordered to pay $8.3 million in restitution.

A/C "via broken windows'' lol

I would show you my car I got for free but you be to excited to sleep for a month so could risk your health to see your dream car

So he is the first who made that real gift card code generator. Damn!

I think he has browsed BHW too much and thought how to turn unethical niches into good ones.
He's got the wrong idea and it ended up badly.

Bitcoin is not real currency of any country. Its just a piece of software generated codes. Coca Cola shares are better than Bitcoin.
China banned Bitcoin. Next country to ban Bitcoins? India
Then only it will be valid as currency in USA only.

It's useless since years. It's so regulated you have to struggle to get it without leaking your data.

I would classify Kvashuk as Intelligently Ignorant.

The rule is; if ONE is going to embezzle MILLIONS < ONE MUST have an exit strategy.

He's from Ukraine; he could have gone back to his home country and been praised by Petro Poroshenko and Vladimir Putin.

Since there is no extradition, he would live like a fat cat.

Plus, at that level of intelligence, the Russians might just invite him to their hacking Brain Trust.

Now, he's doing 9 years? He was WRONG, but I'm willing to bet, once they deport him, Microsoft can kiss that $8.3 million goodbye!
