First, let me say that there is nothing new, earth shattering or genius about this idea. It's simply something I've done that's made my early days in IM a little easier. I found a business partner.

My partner lives close by and he's one of my better friends so were able to talk things over and see each other as much as needed. This helps but probably isn't necessary. Our business relationship works something like this. He makes a lot of money but has little time to invest and knows almost nothing about IM. He's smart enough to know that there's a lot of money to be made on-line and he was interested in creating another stream of income for himself and family. I live paycheck to paycheck but I have a lot of time to invest and I've spent the last year lurking on forums and studying everything I can get my hands on. I've learned a lot. I learned enough to "sell" a very smart guy on the idea of going into business with me. He puts up any needed funding and I do all the work. All profits are divided equally 50/50. The great thing is that he's an experienced marketer and salesman in the "real" world so he realizes that not everything we try is going to be a "homerun". He knew going in and I made it very clear that there would be some growing pains and some failure. Overall we've been profitable but almost everything we make is reinvested back into the business. Also, we created a corporation. We'd both prefer to not lose everything we own if we get sued. I'm not going into all the details about what we do but I will say that teaming up was a great decision. One additional bonus, my partner has become very interested in IM and has begun educating himself and coming up with some of his own ideas. The best thing is were having fun, were learning everyday and were exited about the future.

To sum this up it's been a great experience and continues to be. It's given me the gift of not having to worry about every dollar or how I'm going to pay for something. I would like to ad that it's not like were spending 1000's. I'm talking about basic IM costs. Domains, hosting, software investments, site design, monthly memberships...etc.

One last thing. I can hear a lot of you newbs already. I've been lurking for a year and I know you guys...better than you know yourselves :D Your thinking "Yea, great post gun-shy but this will never work for me. Thanks for nothing." "I don't have any friends." "I don't know anyone with money." "Everyone thinks I'm a loser." "No one would ever believe in me." Blah, blah, blah. I'll admit, not everyone can do this. Some of you are pathetic losers ;)
All I'll say is that a lot of you probably know more than you realize and that there are a lot of people out there, with money, looking to create an extra income. You might even no one of them? Go find someone!

Good Luck,
gun-shy

P.S. Where there is a will, there is a way...

A good post. IM can be a lonely world to get in to and on top of that it can be incredibly overwhelming. A partner in 'crime' can be a great asset.

I personally work alone but have had a few short colabs during my time in the world of Black Hat and it's usually been very beneficial.

Just someone who is in the same boat and shares the same goals makes the more frustrating days go by easier.

Also... you get your first offer filled out for free ;)

Yes I agree nice post. I have given that some thought too. I have a team of SEO people here but I lack a thorough understanding of IM and especially web development. I would love to team up with someone who knows Joomla.

Nice post........Its difficult to find someone to trust though .... you were lucky.

P.S : Your avatar is same as mine :)

It's great to have a partner to discuss things with. An acquaintance of of mine comes round and watches me working on my PC because he is a nosy bastard who wants to know how I make money online. I won't even show him any of my websites as I know he will blab his big mouth off to everyone.

I try to give him a few ideas of what to do but he is too scatterbrained to apply it. My fear is that one day he will finally get how it all works and makes more money than me. If that day ever comes I will be truly pissed off.

Yes i think it would be cool to work with someone that you can trust to the only problem is most people around me dont know basic computer skills so finding a business partner can be tough but i think its a great idea to work with someone you can trust though

I too have to agree with you..

I started up my site with a $100 investment only made $60 the first month in this business by myself. Then a programmer got in contact with me and we talked and talked, I finally gave in and let him take a shot at recoding my site...

The next month we earned $500, following month $700, it just keeps on growing.

We now split everything 50-50 and will be incorporated today. We have many many plans for 2009 and beyond. I know my IM and he knows his programming and is also learning a lot from me.

So yes, partnering up is a good idea as long as each partner has their strengths. If you know internet marketing, don't partner with another internet marketer, go for a programmer so you can develop and market your ideas/products.

But if you are going to partner with an IM when you are one yourself, make sure they are much more knowledgeable than you are so you can learn from them quickly.

Thats a great story about how teaming up works. I dont understand why so many people online are averse to partnerships. You just gotta be able to tell if someone is BS or not

i wish i could partner up, dont have any relationships with anyone in the IM world really besides posting here...damn i need to work on my 'e-social' skills or something, haha.

would help me out a lot with motivation/ideas/direction/etc... and overall be a good deal.

so good post and idea- maybe something i should work towards/look into more.

I think it's very difficult to find a partner. I don't know any IM yet.
But your are right two partners that complement each other are a very powerful source of inspiration and can help you get brilliant ideas.

Thanks for the nice posts guys. Wasn't sure how this would go over as I haven't posted very much.

I want to say a few more things that I believe might help. First off, my partner is successful, mature and has his shit together. He's a guy I would trust with my life...literally. I don't have to worry about him doing any crazy shit or flaking out. I'm lucky in this regard and I know it. A lot of us have people in our lives like this though.

The other important thing that maybe I didn't make real clear is that I've busted ass for the last year learning everything I can. I'm a quick learner and when I like something I REALLY get into it. When I went to him I was able to "sell" him because I knew what I was talking about. I wasn't bullshitting him. We sat down, I opened my laptop, gave him a tour of BHW and a lot of other places and the partnership was on. To be very upfront, I still consider myself the newest of newbs but I do know a lot compared to many people I see posting in forums. Sometimes I feel like newbs really need to shut up and just study, read and research for awhile but I also think maybe I didn't ask enough questions that first year. Who knows? It's a fine line to walk. I will say that I was definitely intimidated by the amount of intelligence and technical knowledge on this forum. I didn't want to come across as an idiot, or worse.

Good Luck,
gun-shy

P.S. dragunov, which one of us is going to lose that avatar man!? I loved that thing when I first saw it and I've never seen anyone else using it. I got a few other good ones I guess I could consider. No worries :D

Yea.
I really do believe that partnerships can help beginners start IM just because the two people may have two different talents in which they can share. Like I always say,"Two minds are better than one." Now I just need to find one!

if anyone likes to become a partner of mines who doesn't have a cpa account or even an epn account, then let me know.

always looking for new partners.

This is a great idea. You dont have to do a partnership and it would be nice to have someone to bounce ideas off and to help come up with new niches or solve problems.
