Yeah, well for someone like me and you its pointless really. Just wanted something so that people that are really new can get a grasp on it without giving them so much text they got lost when it gets a little more complicated.

I've struggled with the idea of choosing a niche strictly for its profit potential vs choosing one for its interest. Whenever possible I try to land somewhere in the middle...I've personally found that I need to have at least some interest in it however remotely otherwise it's hard to be motivated to work on expanding it.
Creating content for a product/service you have absolutely zero interest or knowledge about is difficult at best - the biggest hurdle I've come across when attempting that is that you really don't know the 'lingo' used by those that are into that niche (your prospects) and it can put you at a disadvantage. They can usually tell when you're a little green...
That's when I usually will pay for good quality content. That too can get expensive over time, so bottom line (for myself personally) if the niche is way out of my interest/curiosity, I'll usually skip it for something that's more in line with my knowledge/curiosity/comfort zone.

Exactly when i first started i picked a hobby that i was in to and looked for ways to monetize that and went for it. Plus the benefit of knowing the lingo helps massively with picking keywords.

Have a look at your analytics, do you know what you are ranking for? Do you have any ideas or found anything that you can use to monetize the site?

No problem i am guessing that you have not set up Google Analytics before. Just Google "how to set up Google Analytics" as for setting up the site on a basic standard Matthew Woodward made an amazing tutorial here http://www.matthewwoodward.co.uk/tutorials/how-to-start-a-blog-award-winning-blogger-step-step/

One of the most difficult factors I faced when starting out was choosing an appropriate high conversion theme so I think it would be a good idea if you mention about that in your post.
