It took me 10 days to make a $1000 profit using ebay arbitrage. I simply made a guy an offer for his car and he took it. He lived about 200 miles from me. So I quickly went to his house and purchased the car, took it home, and cleaned it up.
I put it right back up for auction on ebay. I'm planning to create a PDF in more detail this weekend of all the steps it took and launch it as a WSO but don't worry it will be exclusively free here at BHW. I got a lot of love here so I be giving it back.

Bevis great going! stuff like that on eBay and Craigs List is one of the best ways to get some money flowing your way while getting started online if that's what you want to do.

Not real sure if it's exactly arbitrage because you did not have your buyer lined up first. You still had a bit of risk not knowing if you'd find a buyer.

    definition of arbitrage...

The simultaneous purchase and selling of an asset in order to profit from a differential in the price. This usually takes place on different exchanges or marketplaces. Also known as a "riskless profit".

Last year someone was trying to get me to buy some whiskey decanters..about 6 or 7 total but I was not interested really. I"m lazy and hate to mail shit out but...

did a search on ebay and damn a couple of them were selling at good amounts..

these needed a bit of TLC..some cleanup and I had to fix some of the corks as they were deteriorated a bit...anyway....

got the whole lot for $50 knowing a couple would sell for over $100 or so...

put a bit of creative marketing into it...and one of them brought $375..another $75 another $58 and about that time I got lazy and did not want to ship any of the others so they're in my closet. LMAO

Got one ready to sell now before xmas..think it might bring $50 or more.

That s quite an investment, i would not buy a car, repair it and then sell it back just for a measly 1000$ profit. I prefer to work from my laptop, much comfortable. How much did the car cost?

At least you got off your butt and did something. That is half the battle. Most just sit and think but never act. Good for you.

My wife wants to do ebay. I'll do the computer stuff she ships. I shall give it a second thought now.

I used to do a similar thing with Laptops. Fortunately laptops have always had a high perceived value, although of late the items are not so great because PC World has started shifting them at unusually reasonable prices.

I may as well tell a story of sorts, as it started when i wanted to buy my first laptop about 5 years ago.

A friend had just bought himself a laptop and, he brought it around to me to give it the once over and optimise it. (I used to build and optimise computers for Music production.)

I asked where he bought it and how much he paid. He explained it was second hand and he bought it from http://notebooksuk.com I said he seemed to have paid too much, but whatever, it'll do the job. (Have a look at the site, you can buy better, for less, new! These are so over priced it's a joke!)

This over priced site got me thinking as i noticed i could get the same, sometimes new, for less money on eBay. So i went on eBay and bought myself an Advent (An okay PC World "own brand" computer for those outside the UK!), which by recollection was a P3 1000mhz for about £400. I received it and stuck it in the local rag for £600. I sold it within a few days.

I did this several times and eventually moved onto higher priced lappers (as i like to call them) and was doing quite well. I became very clued up on what was a good price and would buy almost anything if the price looked good, be it classifieds in a local rag, or online. Bizarrely my best money was from Premium Laptops, bought in the papers or classifeds, then immediately sold on eBay, which was contrary to what i'd always noticed.

In fact, my best deal was a brand new, in box, unopened, HP 9015 (can't remember exact model, but was only a few years ago), which i got for the bargian price of £550 and sold on eBay for just over £900. It was very high spec at the time and had everything.

I also discovered, that by adding more ram the price would go up loads because for whatever reason, people seemed to perceive loads of ram as being expensive. You could buy a 256MB stick of RAM for £40, often bosting laptop to 512mb and itb would often sell for nearly £100 more than if i didn;'t put ram in it! So i'd often buy a laptop, put as much ram in as i could - normally 512mb or 1GB latterly - and voila. Job done.

Well, thought i'd put my two penneth in! :)

ebay can be great for finding bargains. especially bad listings where hardly any words in title and desc itself..

shameful plug here. but i have a site (see sig below) where u can enter your zipcode/postcode and it will show many many bargains nr you, where ebayers will not post. and item is for collection only. these items hardly get any bids. and u can get some great bargains.

one example is my misses was looking for some hedge trimming stuff on the bay last yr.. she used my site as i told her to lol. then ended up winning a black and decker hedge trimmer for £1.25

but she ended up giving the seller £5.00 as she felt bad paying £1.25 lol

    "measly"

A thousand bucks for a 10 day delay is not measly.

Notice it didn't take 10 - 8 hour days to make this money. It took some smarts, some balls and some risk.

That's the key to success in any endeavor. Knowledge, courage and willingness to fail.

So Nick, as much as I love you and value your input: shut the fuck up.

If you've reached the point where $1000 is nothing to you, congratulations: share more ways to get to that point.

If you haven't gotten to that point yet: stop being a downer.

Gratz on the success bevis. Only 1 in a thousand ever make ANY money from online sources.

That makes you a fucking genius compared to most. Don't get cocky, but look on the bright side. If only 1 in a thousand can do what you can do: there are only 2 million chinese people capable of doing what you did.

    :p
