I feel like posting some bad habits of mine. One, and the worst thing i do, is join an affiliate program. Or take a chance at any kind of money making method, try it for a bit, dont make a sale, or get people to join, then i leave it for something else. Kinda like a merry go round, only not so merry.

Its not that i get bored quickly, its that i think oh god, i havent made any money with this today, this sucks. When in fact i should be patient, test and retest, there are billions of opportunities out there that can make you money, you just need to apply logic, think about how you can become a success with such and such a product or whatever.

Also, one i got over quite a while ago, was messaging people straight away with a biz opp... Bad move. This is not networking, this is spamming. Brought me no success. Networking is meant to be a pleasurable thing, meeting with people you share interests in, people you can talk to.

Thats one of the biggest reasons why i love bhw, even if i didnt make any money with the knowledge that can be found in bhw... i would still be happy to hang out here =)

Ive wasted about half a year doing the above habits, what an idiot lol.

So if any newbie is reading this, making money online should be something you can enjoy, otherwise its just not worth it. Life is too short to waste it on things you dont enjoy. Happiness > Money.

If you havent made anything yet, i can understand that you may not enjoy it. Make your first sale though, your confidence will sky rocket, repeat what you did to make that first sale until you get your second and third... etc.

Then, once you have mastered whatever technique you used to make that first sale... try twist it a little bit... Theres a lot to learn out there. Just take your time and enjoy the ride...

Im sure theres many things i havent mentioned that i intended to... but oh well.

In conclusion, meet people, find out what they want, give it to them. Karma is reality.

very interesting post. i was thinking about that last part today actually. find out what people want and give it to them.

Man, I suffered from the same ailment....... not giving things enough time to iron themselves out.

I would try something new, and after a day or two of no sales, I would FREAK the hell out and try something else completely different.

My problem was 100% financial. My wife and I were in such a money crunch that time is a luxury. If something was not making me money, I felt that I didn't have time to keep playing with it, had to move on.

Then I learned to stop looking at things as a failure, and to start looking at them as "feedback". If something didn't work, analyze, make a slight tweak and try again. BINGO, made a sale.

More analyzing, a little more tweaking = more sales. Next thing I know, I went from $0 a day to $100, then $130, $150 and up to over $200 in under 2 weeks!

You just have to stop letting yourself get "attached" to making money. Quit looking at IM as a job, or a way out. Look at it as a game. And become the ALPHA MARKETER

You will be amazed at how much you'll make and how quickly you will make it!

Good luck!

Thanks for this post. I have been doing IM for about 2 years now and haven't been extremely successful. It's definitely supplementing my income as a student, but nothing to brag about. I was the exact same way when I was just starting out, jumping from affiliate marketing to PPC to PPV to my own product creation and all this other crap. I never focused on one thing for long enough to see a real profit.

Back then a lot of marketers also told me that I should stick with one thing until it works. To me it always seemed like there was a risk, what if after all the hard work I pour into this, it still won't make money? I was always scared about that and in turn wasted more of my time. But if I stuck with what's been proven to work eventually I would be making steady income. I guess that's the wisdom of this story!

Yes and the resource here is invaluable.. It will certainly speed things up and cut short the learning curves, be imaginative, fun and patient, results will follow its own..enjoy

i cant follow you. CLickbank basically paid all my bills for the last year :)

First try FREE SE traffic before you pay for PPC traffic. If you make no money/sales without PPC, there is a big change you'll not make money when you PAY for traffic.

And try stuff with low competition. Stay away from the "make money" affiliate programs.

Wak you and your post.

Sometimes what you say underneath waht you say is astonishing . As far as I can tell you are the only one who does this here.

*like the controversial magic button post you made*

Always enjoy reading your threads . :)

My advice is to listen other people on fourm who has some reputation and give you ideas for making money. Sometimes you try what they wrote and you will find that it's totally useless and you should earn $50 per day but you earn only $1. Change something, try with different affilates, try once more, etc.
I often has some situation that I earn $0.10 but I didn't stop and do what sb said and then after few days I started to earn $10. On the other hand it was this way that I earn on first day $10 and I thougt this is the greatest method and then I earn nothing.

thanks a lot wakkaoaka for that motivating post. you make some great points. key is: not to give up and keep trying.
im still waiting on my first success but i'll try not to make so many newbie-mistakes ;)

the biggest mistake that newbies do is:

not to take action... dont search for any excuses, just try it and go for it!

you will never know if a method makes you any money, if you didnt tried it by yoursef!

This is so true. I remember the first few months of IM i was always thinking why am I not making any money when I have all this knowledge and than it hit me, I was learning all this stuff but I was never dedicating any real time in implementing it. Lesson well learned.

First try FREE SE traffic before you pay for PPC traffic.

i disagree 100%. i pay for traffic first because it's super targeted. getting free traffic takes way longer and requires a lot of moving parts. if you are using PPC, getting clicks, and not making money then your squeeze process isn't working. just my 2 cents.

i agree with both casper and flann. There is one guy on this forum who got into $18,000 debt using adwords. Free traffic is best to start off with because it can pay the bills, but once you understand where your converting free traffic is coming from, you can hone in on them, and also use ppc as an autopilot replica of what you were doing to your free traffic.

And im glad this thread has had such a postive response, I wish there was a multi thanks button.
Say if you are promoting a survey site, you would start buy joining a get paid to forum, or a survey forum. You meet people there, network with them, get to know them, what they like/dislike... The more you know about them the more valuable they become. Because you will end up knowing what they pay for, everyone pays for something. No point in trying to force someone to pay you for shit they dont want. Done that, didnt like it, only results was both parties being pissed off. It's illogical.

Anyways, you could basically run a ppc campaign that targets the people that like to join survey sites. Use keywords like "get paid to do surverys" or whatever. You would have to do plenty of keyword research to get this right, when you think you have the keywords and country targetting sussed... then spend a LITTLE bit of money on adwords. If you make a profit there, even if its 1 cent, then maybe spend some more money on it. You may want to do some more tweaking on your ad and keywords etc. until you make a nice ROI (return on investment) for your ppc campaign. If you make a 20% return, you are kicking ass imo, as long as it stays that way when you spend more money on your ppc campaign. spend $20 on ppc, make $25, invest $25, make $33. Its just a numbers game. Take your time, implement, test, retest, this may seem boring, but when you see results, its fricken exciting. Coming home from a great night out and seeing some autopilot money come in, its a great feeling, no matter how much money it is...

And thanks for all the postive responses, its much appreciated. I was thinking of starting a forum all about failure ages ago... Thinking that it would really stand out, as there are so many forums where it is based on success, failure is just as important though, if not, more.

wow long post, sure i forgot to say a few things, thanks heaps valwardon, finally i have a place to spill some thoughts and be appreciated. its weird, but i like it!

it's cool that you can put your thoughts into such a nice package for everyone to read. i have so much shit going on in my mind that an advice thread from me would be all over the place. :D

Thank you this is very true,i am doing this and i have come to the poin to making about 2 t o 4K,. be patient, focus and dont get desperate no matter in what kind of bad situation you are at the moment,it will eventually pay off :). thank you great advice,to new guys
