All, I'd appreciate any insight you can share with a newbie like myself. A little background on what I am trying to achieve. I am in the US fwiw. When I google a person who has a very specific and extremely unique name, several negative website (cheaterville, jerk, player block etc - who knew all these sites existed) come up on page 1 of google search results. In fact they come up in the first two places in google search results. These negative websites unfortunately outrank the linkedin profile, multiple wordpress blogs, blogger blog, flickr, picassa, pinterest, tumblr websites that have been set up for this person. There are probably 30-40 websites with positive information yet the negative websites outrank all of them. This has not changed much in the last 6 months (except the negative website seem to continually stay ranked high). A SEO / Reputation mgmt (not the well known big one) firm has tried to help but not much luck except creating a lot of other positive profiles on the web. That is the background.

So I'd like to know if I can influence the search results. I downloaded imacro for firefox and set up a simple script to go to google search this person's name, go to page 2 of results and click on positive link about said person. I set up a loop to run 500 times. At some point google stopped the script and posted a message (something about high level of activity from my pc and bots)in my browser with a captcha code. I assume I received this message because of my proxy (remember I am a newbie).

So time for my multipart question:

    1. If I use a program like Imacro to repeatedly click on a link that is on page 2 or 3 or of google search results, will that influence the url to move to page 1 and maybe even to the top page of page 1?

    2. Is my assumption about the why google sent me a message due to my proxy? If so, are there any recommended sites I should use to find multiple (free?)US proxies?

    3. I have seen some posts about using multiple proxies with Imacro. Is it fairly easy to set up Imacro with firefox to use different proxies so google doesn't interrupt the macro?

If #1 doesn't work then I guess the other questions may not be very relevant to trying to influence this problem.

Thanks to everyone for reading and providing help / thoughts / wisdom
