having spent the better part of the past month trawling these forums as i fall asleep in bed with my laptop (neglecting the girlfriend) i've decided it's time to start putting my newly gained knowledge to the test!

most of these journals start off with somebody making an outrageous claim (watch me make $900/day on adsense!) and end with the OP going M.I.A after not making a cent after day 7.

but not mine!

i'm giving myself a simple goal, in 30 days i'd like to create from scratch (i have a web development background) a handful of EMD micro niche websites and see how well i can rank for the keywords. if i happen to make a buck or two along the way that's great, but i'm truly more interested in learning how i can improve keyword rankings!

tools i'll be using:
- traffic travis pro
- the best spinner
- scrapebox
- itches for niches

i'm going to use a customised version of NapsteR's UP LinkPush method outlined in his thread (can't post a link to it due to being a newbie, but you can search for it).

thanks for reading!

Good luck mate! My little tip is to stick with a couple of sites, or handful at most, and rank them before proceeding. My first mistake was building 20 EMDs at once, putting equal effort into optimising them and getting them all to the bottom of the first page. I would have benefited a lot more if I got 3 or 4 ranking #1, than 20 ranking #10, which would have required the same time/effort.

cheers abstroose - will make sure i don't go over the top with the amount of domains i try and juggle at the same time!

[day 1]
spent a few hours today on itches for niches and found 30 niches with results varying from 1000 to 5400 (and one with 40,500) searches per month.

made a shortlist using a spreadsheet and ran it through the google adwords keyword tool. i also gave each domain a commision-junction score out of 10 based on how well i think it will convert.

here are the domains i went with and will be using over the next 30 days (i obviously won't be disclosing the domain names). DOMAIN 5 is a topic i know really well (my 9-5 job is based on it).

DOMAIN 1
competition: low
exact search (mo): 2900
cj: 6

DOMAIN 2
competition: high
exact search (mo): 1000
cj: 10

DOMAIN 3
competition: low
exact search (mo): 1600
cj: 7

DOMAIN 4
competition: medium
exact search (mo): 5400
cj: 5

DOMAIN 5
competition: medium
exact search (mo): 40,500
cj: 5

i'm going to get started right away on writing unique articles for DOMAIN 1, DOMAIN 2 and DOMAIN 3.

DOMAIN 5 has a chance at becoming my personal blog so i'll let it grow naturally over the next 30 days and use it as a comparison to the other sites (once the 30 days is up i'll likely be putting work into DOMAIN 5 the most).

i probably won't have time to put work into DOMAIN 4, but i'll definitely be using it after these 30 days have passed.

Nice idea. My suggestion to you would be to create long pages of original, readable content on the EMD's with KW densities of 2% max. When I say long, I mean 1000-2000 words. Some say include images, but if you're using Clickbump or CTR theme, I could see why you might leave them off. I hate writing, but 99cent articles and/or Mike2000's service can take care of that many articles in about week. Or scrape and spin, but I personally hate spinning.

I can't knock BTB's service b/c I've never tried it, but you might want to try some Fiverr services that provide something approaching (but not equal to) to linkpushing at a lower price. Unless I'm wrong about Napster's method, it looks like you need to do nine pushes for a 3x3. All those linkpushes can get pricey quickly.

I ranked a EMD with one page, 1,000 words article at 4% density, no backlinks whatsoever, in about 3 weeks. Amazon is behind :)

subscribe. I also want to learn this. Hopefully i can have some method here. Thanks for sharing.

Not to threadjack, but how many exactly monthly searches if you don't mind me asking? And where was/is it ranked?

[day 2]
created my tier 1, tier 2 and social bookmark website/profiles! i'm using phpbuilt's post on free current web 2.0 blog lists as a guide (search it, i can't post links yet).

tier 1 - created 3 web 2.0 sites for each domain with the username having some kind of relationship back to my money site.

tier 1 web 2.0 websites used: tumblr, wordpress, weebly

tier 2 - created a network of 9 web 2.0 sites with random / generic names that i'll be using as tier 2 websites for all future projects.

tier 2 web 2.0 websites used: blog, yolasite, angelfire, multiply, webs, blogspot, amplify, edublogs, snapppages

also registered an account on the following social bookmarking websites: digg, delicious, friendfeed

everything to this point has been done manually with a little detail put into registrations (small bio, photo added, created brief welcome first blog post etc.) to make them look legit.

i've made a spreadsheet outlining my 30 days, here are the key milestones i'm aiming to meet:
day 9: 3 websites created with 2 unique articles on each (written myself)
day 13: completed first push for all 3 websites
day 16: have another 2 articles added to each website
day 21: have second push completed for all 3 websites
day 24: have another 2 articles added to each website
day 29: have third push completed for all 3 websites

my pushes are spread over a couple of days to make them look as natural as possible with the final day of each push consisting of scrapeboxing links from my tier 1 and 2 websites to related blogs.

i will follow you and good luck and keep update the post

How many articles you will add to each websites and how many link pushes will you give each website?

Best advice. When I first started a couple of months ago, I began like 9 sites, and it just became too much to manage.

You didn't mention how much you have to invest, as that obviously changes things. More money, easier to run multiple sites (outsourcing).

I personally didn't have much money to start, so I made a big mistake making 9 sites. I sold off most of them, and now am focusing on two sites. I recommend you do something similar.

One of the main reasons that probably 99% of people in IM fail is because they jump into too many projects at once. On the other hand, I'm a big fan of diversifying, which is why I decided to target two sites now, instead of just one. In case one goes to shits, I have a second one to keep going at, while I rebuild another one (worst case scenario).

i forgot to ask,what is commision-junction score

I gave each website a score out of 10 depending on how well I think the domain will convert to sales. The website I gave a 10 to has the EMD of a product.
