I have read posts about benefits of 'pinging' your new posts / site etc.

But what do they really do beside telling search engine that they have been updated and ask them to crawl their site again? Is that the main purpose?

Whats the difference between using web-based sites like 'pingfarm' and using scrapebox ping mode. I notice webbased one is much faster while scrapebox seems to take forever. It seems like its 2 different thing? (I am confused)

    Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Oh btw, I created a WP blog with roughly 5 pages. Do i need to ping them all one-by-one this case? Or does it go by the 'domain'? Thanks again

there's no difference and i think ur SB is acting slow because of public proxies.

There's no need of any kinda pinging for your main site.

pinging should be used for your backlins, not your site
if you add content frequently, spiders will crawl your site more and get changes regularly

if you need a fast boost in SERPs you will ping your links - but this i would do only if site is a "throw away", meaning it is about a certain event which will not be of any interest to anyone soon, so you need to monetize quickly

Scrapebox is not random enough unless you correctly. For a five page site you only have to rapid index your main domain and the search engines will find the rest if your site is linked correctly. I got 40000 pages indexed in less then a week but in that case I used sitemaps and linklicious but most results were because of linklicious. With 5 pages its not a big deal to be random but when you get bigger it is important. Do not expect huge traffic or any from just a ping right away. Have good content on those 5 pages and you wont have to worry about getting traffic of indexed.
