I hope this isn't a dumb question, it's my first here so be kind...here goes...

I love the wp-o-matic plugin better than those others so far. But how to modify wp-o-matic to only feature excerpts of the article instead of the full post?

I don't want to plagiarize, just to collect the posts in one place and link while giving credit to the author.

And far secondary, how exactly do I modify that cron job thingie? Which file to find?

    Thanks much in advance

Your outgoing link count will seriously get high and google does not like that your page rank and site will be look down upon by google. I having a similar situation. wp-o-matic takes the posts from the feed the way they are, and almost ALL posts that it grabs have links back to the site. How can I get around this?

Also, how do I appropriately set up the cron job? What should the command look like?

    Thanks.

I thought about it...I have several blogs and for one, I really want excerpts. It's a matter of respect over money.

If you want to plagiarize with no links back to the site on an autofeed...you might have to remove them by hand. More and more folks are inserting links into their post if they don't want others to take credit for their content.

What I did was use Autoblogger (avail from the wonderful folk here). It's more customizable. Don't have to worry about cron jobs either.

I edited the post templates. They have great instructions and even a place to test it out on their site. You set the post templates you want for each individual feed.

I use this on the blogs where I want attributed full content.
    %author%<p>%content%</p><br>Read the original here:<br><a href="%source_url%" title="%title%">%title%</a>

I use this on blogs where I just want an attributed excerpt--set to 1 paragraph in the settings.
    %author%<p>%excerpt%</p><br>Read the original here:<br><a href="%source_url%" title="%title%">%title%</a>

    Works for me.
