Bought the domain yesterday and transferred the nameservers today, but website is still down. Hope I have changed them over alright. Does it nortmally take 24 hours for the site to be up and runnning?

I cant even preview my website on wordpress!

Well, it does take a while sometimes. You can try using a tool like ipchecking (.com) to check when it's resolving properly.

I've had mine show up in 5 minutes after updating name servers, and another time it may take more than 24 hours for me.

Did you try just going to the ip address (I guess if not an add-on domain)?

Or, even if it's an add-on domain, you can try going to 'mainsite.com/add-on-domain-name.com', if set up like hostgat0r anyway.

If you have to create name servers, you have to do the a record thing too, which I still don't quite get.

You can look at the welcome email from your host, or login into cpanel if you have it. You can then see it in the left hand column, don't confuse it with the 'last login from' ip address that's also in the column.
