We have created a new Magento online store for a client. The domain has been registered for around 2 years previous but has only had a branded holding "new site coming soon" page.

There are over 1000 products uploaded. All products and category pages have been custom written with no duplicate content.

The template/theme is completely custom built.

The new store / site was launched in October '19. They have had between 1 and 8 organic visitors since launch.

No sign of any increase in organic traffic at all dispite building good contextual links etc.

Every site we've created in the last 20 years has started showing traffic almost immediately. But this one appears to be in Google's Sandbox.

What are the indicators? What can we do to jump start Google? Any advice is appreciated.

Did you add your site to Google Console (Google Webmaster Tool)? If yes, then see if you got most of the product pages indexed (pages are indexed but not cached issue)? I guess indexing should be the problem.

Yep. Everything is OK in webmaster tools.

All major pages are indexed and cached.

They're almost all showing last indexed Dec 20, 2019.

Was the site actually submitted to Google within those first two years or just left with no links or anything pointing to it?

I have zero experience with building online stores but are you in niches where stuff like Amazon and eBay will also have relivant pages?

It did have a few external links (mainly from supplier's dealer locator pages) and Google did know about it. I'm at a bit of a loss really.

What is the competition of your keywords like?

In my experience the sandbox prevents you from getting on Page 1. If the niche you target has Amazon/Ebay...etc on Page 1, it's not the sandbox but competition keeping you down.

Oh God, you must be doing something wrong, people are ranking 1-month-old sites on top of Google, check streaming keywords.

The niche is not all that competitive. But Amazon and eBay do feature on the 1st SERP.

But this website is not even attaining page 5.

Is this site owned by someone else earlier? Did the site has any backlinks?

I witnessed someone previously owned domain with some bad links affected the new owner with a completely new site.

Yeah, I thought about that. There were no backlinks beforehand. And I checked archive.org to be sure that it's never been used before. I'm completely lost. It's like it's been handed a penatly. But if it has, it's an automatic one as there's no notifications in WMT.

Thanks for the offer of help. But I can't share the URL even if I wanted to. I've been a browsing member of this forum since 2011. But this is my first thread and I can't post links. Anyway, I can't see it being a good idea posting the website URL in question here.

Don't worry. Send some social signals and let the google know site is back in business

Make some inbound link from your inner page. That's can help to ping from one page to another one.
