I have a little over 2500 new users on my blog. The User panel shows "username" "email" "role" "post". If they are a new user and there is a 0 in "post" can I assume they are spammers and are just trying to get a link by filing out the biographical information.

Is this assumption correct? If not, what is correct?

How do I fix it. I do not want to delete users who are legit, even if they are not commenting I don't want to delete them. Spammers got to go.

Thank you for considering my problem.

    Additional:
Currently Google Analytics places the site at around 30 or so users a day. So, 2500 users seems somewhat high to me.

Yeah wordpress comes with Askimet but you need to activate it. It's pretty simple, but you can get a number of other plugins that help deal with spam.

I need to know how to do it for New Registrations. I am getting a lot of new user registrations. For a site that only receives approximately 30 visits per day I think over 2500 registered users may be excessive. Also: the registered users aren't leaving comments with links. As far as I can tell they are just registered.
Is it possible they are not spammers but are people attempting to hack the site.
I don't get it. 30 visits daily and 2500 plus users doesn't add up.
    Thanks

My suggestion would be to install a captcha based plugin for registration (an image or a more difficult captcha). Second you can go through a couple of these links to try to help you out with other solutions:
