I just ran a Google search query with the phrase 'world cup 2010 dates' and google returned a SERP with some new features. Well I think their new because I've never seen them before. Basically, it showed the fisrt few games of the world cup and it showed all the participating country flags split up into their groups.
It's a great result for my query i.e Very relevant.
As it's the first time I've seen this I thougt I should post it here and ask if any of you guys have seen this before and if this is only for the world cup?

check it out...Here's the URL of the SERP so you can see what I mean:

This was part of Google Caffeine and has been around for a few months. Its called a feature micro-formats... Google supports three implementations: RDFa (for xhtml), microdata (for html5), and microformats (for everyone). http://www.microformats.org has the spec on that last one. Things like articles, events, reviews, places, people, organizations, ratings, prices, etc. can be formated in a way such that google will automatically recognize them and handle them with the new features.

There is a video in the google maps cash collection that explains how to exploit the microformats version of this.
Be warned though it is quite intensive and complicated and you will need 3rd party citations that G can pick up and associate with your site
