I'm seeing brand new sites on Flippa with Alexa rankings already. I'm talking site that are barely a couple weeks old.

Any tips on building up Alexa ranking from some of the more experienced guys on here? I don't understand how they are getting enough traffic to have a ranking so quickly.

New sites with good Alexa have probably purchased traffic

The kind of traffic you buy is almost always bot traffic, and it is worthless except to increase Alexa rankings to trick people into buying your website.

Alexa ranking is not a primary criteria to sell a site. The monthly revenue is the most important factor.

If i remember correctly (don't know if this still works), just install the alexa toolbar and get a macro to refresh the webpage continuously. Alexa counts each refresh as a visit.

I agree tho, $ is what counts.

Whilst Alexa is usually a pointless metric, some low end buyers would value it.

I'm not sure what sort of Alexa rank you are seeing, but any rank in the 1,XXX,XXX+ range is easy to achieve with just a few visits that could be easily attained with some forum posting, buying junk traffic, posting on facebook etc.
