Anyone else experience this? Is it normal? I changed all the page titles because they were over optimized. They (the original overoptimized) started showing up on the index and even ranking on page 3. They still are. But it's still showing my old page titles. Now when i type in site: and my site, today its 9, yesterday it was 21, and then 9 before that and 21 before that again, it keeps happening.

have you submitted your sitemap on GWT? also try to Fetch as google to let google crawl your site and reindex them.

I'm seeing the same thing with my new website... When I perform a "site: " search for my website, Some pages keep disappearing and then reappearing (sometimes naturally and at other times I had to manually submit them for indexing) from the serps... As far as I know, it's a natural thing and means that the page is being evaluated by Google.

And for the issue of old page titles showing up on the serps, that's just because Google hasn't crawled your website after you made the changes. You can just wait for it to automatically update it or you can submit the URL yourself (through the webmasters tool) to speed it up.

Also, like the guy above me said, create and submit your site's sitemap if you haven't already done it.

Yes,I also like to suggest you,to create and submit your sitemap to Google.
Then it will crawl your site and changes will be made respectively.
After crawling your rankings will become stable I think.

It's just normal behavior. You cannot judge your ranking over a short period of time, especially if it's brand new. It will keep dancing until google find its good position and adjust to all the algorithms.

It takes some time to settle down until Google crawls your site.
Just create a sitemap and submit to GWT.
