just as the title says. How do i switch my programs and files from my laptop to my new dekstop quadcore powerhouse?

the PC i ordered comes with vista but i plan to switch to windows 7 immediately, most likely will do a dual boot option on it.

    any tips would be great.

    Just clone the hard drive.
Boom, all your files and folder on the new computer. Your only other option involves reinstalling all your programs, you can't just copy a program to the hard drive.

IDE to USB convertor, or just plug your old HDD in as a slave. Both would involve taking the laptop apart though.

Could use a program like ghost to create an image of your laptop, and then use that image to basically mirror your laptop on your PC. Takes a while and a lot of space to do though!

Or, just use a network and xfer all the stuff you need. Easiest way!

because i plan on running this new computer with several virtual PC running at the same time. So i can have serveral instances of BH programs running on diffrent internet connections without disturbing me while i surf the web and BS on BHW, and other sites. This computer that i am on now just does not have the balls to handle that type of stuff (plus it's OS is vista) and all the programs i have are the latest versions of which i don't know where the disks are or i have downloaded from demonoid and i know to be good and virus free installs.

I tend to reinstall the applications by hand, then copy the documents over via text-file, seems to be the easiest way to do it, probably isn't the fastest though.

If you have a cross over cable just connect it between your laptop and pc and share files. Hassle free. And then reinstall all those applications.
