New page goes from page 2 to... nothing?

Hey guys not sure why this is happening. Just created a new collections page for my shopify brand and the page was doing good right off the jump but about 5 days ago, it like completely dissapeared from the rankings.

Here's what that looks like on GSC: 1.JPG

as you can see, it is on position 14. And then the very next day 2.JPG
It has no position?

What does this mean, and what should I do. Is this like some Google dance and it will get back to ranking, or should I go back into the page and make some big edits.

Or do I just need to build backlinks?

google dances are usually more frequent (they happen multiples times a day, not once every 5 days like in your case), and they also don't happen for big brands / sites like shopify. So, I don't think it's a google dance.

Check whether the URL is still indexed. If it's still indexed, you might need to build links (although, I'm not 100% sure that it helps). If it's not indexed... well, work towards indexing it, of course :)

Normal SERP dance. Even my aged domains have posts and product pages hopping in and out of top 10 daily.

Worst case scenario that page of yours is dead until next core reranking update.

yeah, but his page has not bounced back for 4-5 days, I don't think this is a google dance.

You might be right that it will bounce back with the next update, though. It does happen a lot with google's updates :)

the page is still indexed. Also it is in the supplements space if that is relevant. The keyword has a kd of like 10 or something which is why it was on page 2 really quicky.

If it is still indexed, yet it lost all rankings for that keywords, what are somethings that could cause that to happen? Is it the on-page? my internal linking? not enough backlinks?

if it's still indexed it's good. Now that I think better about it, I think your issue might be an internal one. I remember that some / many of these parasites have their internal ranking algorithms, and I wouldn't be surprised if you need virtual love like upvotes, ratings and all that crap in order to rank. I really wouldn't be surprised if google themselves cared about the ratings of a shopify page in order to rank it...

Something else that's crossing my mind that could be the culprit is duplicate content. I'm not sure what content there is on your collections page, or how unique this content is when compared to other pages in your store, but if it's a uniqueness thing you might want to either rewrite that content, or maybe add a canonical meta tag in the header of this page if you really wish to rank this page before others.

Sadly, I don't use parasites (especially ecom ones), so I'm not sure how accurate my guesses are, but it's the best I could do. Try to work on these 2 things (rewriting content and canonicalizing the page) and see if it does anything.

If these don't help, it could also be the latest google update which - from what I understood - targets specifically parasites (although I'm not sure that shopify can be considered parasite, but with google you never know)... And if that's the case, you might have to wait for the update to fully roll out (which could take days to months) and your page would bounce back automatically....

Anyway, that's all I can think of, if someone else knows better let us both know as I'm curious too what the issue could be...

Try social signals, share on facebook+twitter+reddit+pinterest, create 3 to 4 relevant pages or blog posts on shopify, internal link to this collection page, make sure to internal link while hyperlinking "keyword" use different relevant keywords to your collection page
