Hey everyone,
New member here. Figured I'd introduce myself instead of silently lurking for six months like a normal person.
I'm here to learn SEO properly. Not the "10 tips to rank #1" version that every blog post recycles, but the actual mechanics underneath it. Why certain pages hold rankings and others fall off a cliff two months later. What people are testing right now that hasn't made it into a listicle yet.
The bigger goal is understanding how organic traffic turns into actual money. Traffic on its own is a nice number in a dashboard. I want to know what happens between someone landing on a page and someone becoming a customer, and how much of that is SEO's job versus everything else.
Long-term, I'd like to build my own thing with this. Career, projects, business, whatever it ends up being. Right now I'm mostly at the stage of knowing enough to realize how much I don't know.
Happy to learn from anyone willing to share, and I'll post what I find as I go. Including the stuff that fails, which I assume will be most of it early on.
I'll do my reading first. Stickies, search function, all of it, before I ask anything that's been answered a hundred times already.
Good to be here.
