anyone notice this? it must be new or i just am really blind..........

new feature on google, there is a magnifying glass to the right of web pages where you can preview the page before opening it. pretty interesting.

That startled me when it started for me today. Was a little annoying with them popping up, but now I like the feature. It's very easy to see MFA/spam sites, and just not go to the site.

    Yeah, i have it too.

Its not a good or bad thing, it just changes the SEO landscape.

If you use facebook as point of reference, on facebook, your picture basically determines your CTR whereas you text determines your ROI. I think you're going to start seeing lower traffic numbers on ugly/purely spamtastic websites. I definitely think you're going to start seeing more people putting hot women above the fold of their websites, just like they do in fb ads. besides that, the formatting of the site is going to become much more important so that the visitor can see the key attention grabbers clearly when he hovers over the google preview icon.

Like I said, its not a good or bad thing, it just changes the landscape and the considerations necessary for an effective campaign.

Also, perhaps more important than its effect on SEO, this may have a devastating effect on PPC. I wouldn't be surprised if CTRs will decrease across the board due to the comparatively easier access to organic sites.

    Just a thought...

interesting points, thanks for sharing. the facebook example makes alot of sense, i agree. but at the same time, we're extra keen to stuff like this. people have been so used to just clicking, and old habits die hard. so i'm thinking it will take people awhile to start using this and some will even maybe not use it at all. it could also depend on the niche and how much people are searching vs just clicking on the first few links on the first page

Yep I noticed this about a day ago right after I noticed the big drop in back links. I lost over half of my back links for my companies site but we moved up in all the search terms.

So I am waiting to see what is going on now and what they are changing. I know a few sites that were in the same market as my main site that they were doing some black hat to and now they are no where on the board. There site has always been above mine for over a year now.

So I wonder if big G has cracked the black hat code. Has anyone read there terms of use lately? Where it talked about not using programs for link building and it even calls out a few programs.

    whats big G doing now.
