So there is a local Free newspaper that has a special edition for 4 local cities. They put out a weekly 10-20 page issue with pictures and ads for each city.

I set them up with a WP build on their main domain and 3 additional domains for the other cities. They have been in business 20 years and have at least since 2007 readily available on a hard drive. Prior to that it goes back to various forms of media storage up to and including 5.25 inch floppy disks.

    My questions

    1) Is it possible the postdate a post in Wordpress so it will appear in an older archive?
    2) How much should I charge him to put this stuff on line? I mean.. time consuming yes.. hard? No.. it should just be copy and paste right?
    3) How many articles can I safely add per day?
    4) Does anyone know where the hell I can get an external 5.25 inch floppy drive?

I am interested to hear what others would do? I am thinking that once everything they ever printed is online they would have to be getting some monster adsense checks right?

    Mike

haha about the 5.25. I remember using those... and yes it is possible to postdate, just don't know the plugin or theme you would need. try ebay for the floppy drive!

Please have your client Fedex those discs to my office ASAP so I can make sure that they get posted properly (to one of my sites).

In the event they choose not to, have them backdate their WP posts to indicate the postings back when they were published.

Right Bass? They are a small local news outlet. 4 papers one each for a suburb of roughly 50,000 people.

Along the way he even expanded into 1 city and folded it and expanded into another and sold it.

charge to get it online?.... um...what do you want your hourly rate to be?

10 USD? 15 USD? 30 USD an hour?...

take what you want your hourly rate to be....then substract 5$.... that's what you will charge an hour to copy and paste them...

    -------

OR...and I reccommend this method..as it' what I would do = more money.....put it up online for the cost of the drive you'll be buying from ebay....and the hosting if you're paying for that....and get a contract written up saying " you get 25-45%" of the adsense revenue for 5 years....during and after you finish posting the last article"

If it's unique content HECK....start with 10 posts a day...then go up to 100 posts a day is what I would TEST..... (TEST DO NOT DO)....I'm not sure how posting a lot in one day makes google calculate things so go normal posting rate...but then if it's unique I think there is no reason to slow down...post all in a day if you can lol (not reccommended, to be on the safe side).

I like this idea... It sounds like there's a lot of content to be posted. Maybe get a setup up fee of a couple hundred. Use some of that to do a little promotion, and with the power of all that content you should get some pretty decent revenue from ads. When you ask him to share the profits that he otherwise wouldn't be getting, I think he would easily go for it.

    Good luck
