I would like to announce my new 2016 case study. As mentioned in the title, I have already shared some of my strategies that helped me research keywords, create and rank an affiliate website that I managed to sell for $9000. This year I have a goal to rank a similar affiliate website and sell it for $25000 at EmpireFlippers.

I am not starting from scratch, to be honest, I really like following case studies of BHW members, who have already achieved initial results with their websites and are showing how to improve SERPS and get even better results.

At the moment, I already have a website that was created ~3 months ago. I have stopped using EMD domains long time ago after Google launched their EMD algo, so, for this project I chose new brandable domain name (TLD .com). The website is already ranked in Google and is getting ~80 UV visitors per day. At the moment there are 60 pages of content indexed in Google. I am planning to add ~10 articles per month and get to 180 pages of high quality content by December 2016. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time for link building and got only 10 backlinks in total pointing to the website. 2 links are guest posts on relevant websites and 8 links are from manual blog comments on relevant websites. In January I will start building more WEB2.0, Guest Posts, Blog Comments, Paid Links. Since the website is relatively new and has only 10 backlinks, I will build links slowly this month.
Below you can see screenshots of my WMT and GA account and see how the website is doing at the moment:

So, to sum up, her is what I have at the moment:

  • Established website with good, brandable domain name
  • 60 pages of high quality content
  • 10 backlinks pointing to the website
  • ~80 uv/day
  • Website is ranked in Google but still needs a lot of work to increase SERPS
  • Website is not monetized at the moment, I am planning to monetize it by the end of January using Amazon and affiliate programs related to my niche.

What am I planning to achieve:

  • As mentioned above, 180 pages of high quality content by December 2016

  • ~1200 uv/day
  • Top 5 positions for keywords with low/middle competition. Keywords are laser targeted and have good conversion rate. For example BEST *product category* or *product category* REVIEW.
  • Make $1250-$1300 NET profit per month by the end of the year. With this profit, I will be able to sell the project for 20x monthly profit (ideally) at EmpireFlippers.

What will I do next

In January and February I will publish several big posts and will talk about:

  1. KEYWORD RESEARCH
  2. CHOOSING DOMAIN NAME, WEBSITE CREATION
  3. LINK BUILDING
  4. MONETIZATION, CONVERSION RATE, AD PLACEMENT

This journey will help me be more organized and make sure that my monthly goals are achieved and I am getting closer to my goal. Hope you will like this case study. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me whatever you want.

PS. I am not a native speaker and would like to sorry for possible mistakes =)

If you can give me the links im interested in seeing what you shared :)

Thanks!

Interesting OP!

You seem to be pretty well-structured and have a solid plan. I think you will get even more than $25K due to the size of the site. And hopefully the site won't be limited to $1300/mo. If you do proper keyword research and if your niche is lucrative, you should be able to crush that goal within a few months! :)

Good luck! :)

Good plan, your journey will be successful soon. Best wishes to you and your journey.

Good luck mate. Hope you reach your goals soon.
How you build links to your authority site?

You really seem to know exactly what you're doing and clean plans setup.
Shouldn't take to Dec 2016, i'm sure you can get it to $1300+/month in maybe 4-6 months.

Best of luck and ill be following

Hey dude,

We have a similar journey.

I'm impressed by your traffic. I have a lot more content (high quality, long-form, targeting many keywords) but I get a lot less traffic.

I'm looking forward to your updates to see how I can model my efforts after yours.

Best of luck, brother!

I would be very happy if I managed to achieve $1300/m in 4-6 months =) However, these days it becomes more and more difficult to rank websites that fast =(

I have just checked your journey ($300/day with Amazon) and our journeys are indeed very similar, even keyword research! Wish you good luck too, Malancrav!

Those are the kind of threads we like to follow! Keep updating us!

Guys, as promised. I am posting my small KEYWORD RESEARCH GUIDE Part 1 . Hope you will like it. PS. I just had some time and decided to add a dragon to the header of the post. Guess, I played Skyrim too much =))

So how to choose a good keyword that will convert well and it will not be that difficult to rank your website? To be honest, I think that mini niche websites are dead. Nowadays, it is almost impossible to rank your website and achieve good results if your website has 5 pages of content. Big authority websites - this is the way to success in 2016. It is easier to build and rank one authority website with 200 pages of content than 20 mini niche websites with 10 pages of content each. Moreover, webmasters will be more willing to link to authority websites rather than mini affiliate websites.

When choosing a niche for my new projects, I always consider my hobbies and interests. I once had an authority website about gardening, lawn mowers and to be honest, I was so tired of researching keywords in this niche, publishing content about lawn mowing and garden decoration and getting relevant links that I finally decided to stop working on the project at early stages and sell it for cheap.

I will not reveal my niche, but it is connected to health/fitness. I already have experience in this niche and what is more important, I am very passionate about it. So, out of 180 articles that I planned to publish till the end of the year ~20 will be money pages optimized for keywords such as BEST *category*, BEST *category* in 2016, *category* review. Money pages will contain reviews and ratings of 4 best products on the market. Why 4? Everyone compares top 5 products, so I decided to stand out from the crowd and compare top 4 products. LOL =)

~50 articles will optimized for long tail keywords that convert well. Although there will be no product comparison charts at these pages, I will add banners in places with high CTR (I will talk about it in future too). Due to the nature of the keywords, CR of affiliate products will be very good. The rest articles will be interesting articles about literally everything related to health/fitness niche that will decrease bounce rate, and increase PPV. Since Google considers user behavior as a ranking factor nowadays, it will positively affect rankings of my website.

When I have a niche, I usually go to Amazon and look through different categories, check top sellers in different categories and from there I get a list of the most popular products. For example if the niche is male grooming, after researching amazon I would discover that there are many types of male grooming products, for example: shaving brushes, badger shaving brushes, natural shaving creams, straight razors, shaving soaps and so on. After adding "best" before each category type i would get a list of keywords to analyze. I would also check competitors that already rank for keywords that I have found, analyze their websites and find even more keywords related to the niche. So, by the end of this stage I would already have a list of money keywords in this niche and from there I would start analysis of competitors and profit potential. It is already a late night here and i will talk about it in the second part of my KEYWORD RESEARCH GUIDE that I will publish next week.

you are churning out some good advice in the form of mini tutorials within the thread. mucho gracias

Money pages will contain reviews and ratings of 4 best products on the market.

You will have a CPA for every product of them? You said that you will add around 50 articles with long tails that convert well. That means you will have more promoting products on your website?

You're thinking about Amazon or Clickbank or CPA and as well how you will find CPA for every product?

You will also make "[brand product name] review" on your money articles or just "best [category] .. " , "[category] review" ?

Have you thought about SILO structure or you will just add articles and interlink them?

Thanks, I will also do the same thing and some answers will help me. :)
