    Hey received this email today:

    Dear Amazon Associate:
We?re writing to let you know about a change to the Amazon Associates Program. After careful review of how we are investing our advertising resources, we have made the decision to no longer pay referral fees to Associates who send users to www.amazon.com, www.amazon.ca, or www.endless.com through keyword bidding and other paid search on Google, Yahoo, MSN, and other search engines, and their extended search networks. If you're not sure if this change affects you, please visit this page for FAQs.
As of May 1, 2009, Associates will not be paid referral fees for paid search traffic. Also, in connection with this change, as of May 1, 2009, Amazon will no longer make data feeds available to Associates for the purpose of sending users to the Amazon websites in the US or Canada via paid search.
This change applies only to the Associates programs in North America. If you are conducting paid search activities in connection with one of Amazon?s Associates Programs outside of the US and Canada, please refer to the applicable country?s Associates Program Operating Agreement for relevant terms and conditions.
We appreciate your continued support and participation in this advertising Program. If you have questions or concerns, please write to us by using the Contact Us form available on Associates Central.

    Sincerely,
    The Amazon Associates Program

Does anybody has a clue of what is going on with these guys? I used to make a lot of money with amazon through PPC actually and this is almost a surprise catch.

    Any opinions?

Just got the same, it means they will be monitoring traffic more closely.

This is going to hurt a lot of people.

What money? These bastards haven't sent me a check since i started with them back in Dec 08. Its now March. Even after i asked them when i could expect payment they failed to respond.

Amazon can go to hell. They are nothing but a big fat affiliate. And they dont pay.

And they shave like a snow cone. I've gotten hundreds of hits but not a sale. I know I've gotten sales. I've bought things from my affiliate link. Fuckers.

Look like all traffic through Adwords and PPC...any type of traffic paid to get massive amounts of traffic. Thats how I read it though...never used their affiliate servces but if thats what they're talking about then I feel bad for those using paid processess.

Just got this geez 24 hour cookie now this. I guess its cheaper for them to stop paying the affiliate commissions as they advertise everything already on Adwords. I hope google increases there bid amounts

This is only ppc (adwords) right?

I was just doing a associate-o-matic installation, to use with craiglist. This not affect me, right?

It would be okay if the visitors go to amazon by clicking on the page instead of being redirected

I wonder what this means? Is amazon going to paying a lot closer attention to their traffic now? ugh...
