I have a heap of sites that got hit by panda and penguin, allot were in different networks and got punished. I had another group of sites that werent affected by panda or penguin but were in another type of network of article/blog sites (not on bhw) which just got found out in the past 2 weeks, I had 42 sites in the network and have all taken a massive nose dive, and it hurts :(

From now on i've made a promise to myself to steer clear of any network people offer no matter how secure and hidden they think it is, eventually I believe they will get found and your rankings will be affected, sometimes a little, sometimes allot.

If you make your own network and be super careful how you set it up then it may well be ok, but don't ever advertise it or offer links to people, keep it to yourself and under the radar.

I'm losing allot of my monthly income from businesses now, It's my own fault, live and learn, but I'm growing a strong distrust for "networks".

Yup, I learned the same lesson. Having to work a real job again after Penguin has taught me about so called private networks. My own fault taking the shortcut but ya, they don't work long-term.

I recently started accepting posts on a blog network in exchange for credits to post on another blogs. Within a few days my site was tagged for malware, never again.

Its the risk we all take, private networks works a great deal in ranking, if not we all be sitting for months and months to rank, however if your to go for any private network go for the non popular one, ones with only hundred website in the network. No hype network you can still go unnotice.

What i sense so far is, if your to use this network, make sure 60-80 percent of your links comes from non private network with no anchor links.

And make 20 percent of your link a private network, you can even go crazy, out of your 20percent private network links, make 10 percent naked links, 10 percent anchor text link.

Fingers crossed, even white hat site get hurt.

There is quality networks and we have all seen the power of them, but now I'm cautious to the point of staying clear, they have no vested interest or attachment to other peoples rankings, they just want to cash in until they get busted (which is cool, i would too). But I can't afford to take the risk anymore.

I think diversity is the key to long term results these days.

Penguin / Panda recovery is possible using alot of social signals too I find.

Glad I stumbled across this post, yet there's tons of people selling them on here. Too many people on here giving out reports or refusing to than breaking down and doing when they get desperate for more sales.

I'd be interested in knowing if there are any blog networks which are still successfully running- every single blog network I have used have been hit hard with de-indexing. Some site operators admit they've hit, but plenty of others still keep on selling links- they keep on replacing the de-indexed blogs, but what about all of those links that have been de-indexed?

Blog networks are not a good long term strategy- the structure of outbound linking leaves too big a footprint. Maybe I'm wrong and would love to know otherwise!

I don't mind they push the sales, it is their business, as long as people are aware of the potential risks when they enter any of the networks on here. I learnt the hard way, my advice, use other methods of linking, there are plenty of them. If you care about your sites then don't do it. It's tempting to get fast ranks but better to protect your sites long term.

I'm sure Google employees love to read these types of threads.

This is Black Hat World. Many tend to push the envelope here, and it's a risk many of us gladly accept. Remember, the greater the risk the greater the rewards. :)

Mates the problem is these networks suck! I say this before and people laugh and tell me Im an idiot! Most network owners are very greedy, advertise a great deal on BHW and other forums. Basically sell out. Then, they provide reports because clients will be mad if they dont giving up their whole network to everyone and anyone.

Worst case tehy even use spun, duplicate, stolen, and low quality content. Heck, ive even seen networks that get ratted out on Google's forums because the owner of site where content is stolen gets pissed off and asks how to stop it. Next thing you know you got someone at google looking at the site and finding all of the network, duh!

I dont use blog networks and dont recommend them, go and use homepage networks which are the best. but the good ones aren't advertised that much, dont have sales threads, and are hard to find. ive been in one network thats been up for over 1 year with 0 deindexing

I always told everyone that use private blog network to your tier 1 backlinks like high PR blog sites. So you will always ahead in seo and your main website will never get any negative impact due to private blog network. and those private blog network also will stay in race for longer time.

Some networks allow you to remove links, depending on how many you placed you could try this option and try and remove the harm that they have caused.

Could be worth it if it has has such a major impact on your business.

Linkauthority is one of the few widely known ones that is still alive and kicking. Lots of smaller knes still working but you really need to dig to find them.

i have a question... so far i understood that deindexed blog networks don't pass anymore link juice to your money site and that is why your rankings drop. is that correct? or do you actualy get a penalty for having these backlinks?

I have sites that were hit when Build My Rank fell and I have been backlinking to the sights with no avail. I think they give you a penalty. No matter what I do I haven't moved up in ranking for those keywords.
