upwork is such fucking bullshit for letting freelancers get away with this

when you hire someone on upwork and they don't feel like doing the job, they can simply ignore you. you message them and ask "what happened?" they ignore that too. at 1 am you stay up waiting. You message "I told you I am in a rush, what's going on?" they ignore that too. you request a refund, they ignore that too, and after 7 days you are refunded. What are the consequences for them? NOTHING. upwork completely protects them. YOU CANT EVEN LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW for them. upwork does not allow you to leave a negative review. in their profile, it will say "no feedback given"

That's why i will never ever hire anyone with more than one "no feedback given" - one is ok because maybe one time the guy got sick. but when someone has 5 of those, forget it, I am not hiring.

edit: upwork's excuse is "if the freelancer didn't do the job, then you dont know his quality of work so you can't leave a rating"!!!
imagine if ebay said "if the seller didn't send your item, then you cant leave a review"!!!

So No feedback given means that they took a project but they didn't finish it
I am not completely sure on this and someone who is more familiar with upwork could correct me, but I am thinking 98% of the time no feedback given means the guy accepted the job and decided to masturbate instead of doing your work.

You are absolutely right. ‘No feedback given’ means they have not completed the job. Also, be careful with contracts that are not finished and the contractor asks you for feedback in the middle of the contract. I just had a situation where I was asked to give feedback on the basis of the partial work done and the next day I gave positive feedback the guy told me he needs to end the job due to family issues.
He obviously didn’t complete the work.

I never trust anyone with out some proof of work first I think that should be a rule dealing with these types of stuff

No, it means that the job is completed but the client left no public feedback.
Focus on JSS score and reviews on freelancers

try ending a contract without leaving feedback. let me know how that works out. (hint: it won't let you press the submit button)

I had same experience, but on fiverr, But they also need to start from somewhere, we should give him a chance too

dude you got a full refund, when you get refunded you cannot leave feedbacks.
there are protections in place for both freelancers and clients.
Also, how much did you hire for? Upwork cannot weed out everybody, you have to do your own filtering on this and since you hired someone with no feedbacks its nobodys fault but yours, theres plenty of good freelancers on upwork but they dont come cheap..

Beside the feedback from the client, I think there is an extra way for Upwork to check how the freelancer have done his job: Through the message history. So, if the freelancer was rude in any way, Upwork will known that. And 3 refunds like that may be a red flag for his account.

So No feedback given means that they took a project but they didn't finish it

Or the buyer simply forgot or is too lazy to leave that feedback.

You het what you pay for! Easy as that.

You should never hire anyone without doing extensive research on them or talking to them :anyway:
Even if their reviews are stellar
In this digital age, there enough information everywhere on anyone.

not really because you dont even know if the upwork name is a real name, his name could be jack morris on upwork but in real life it could be herbert birdsfoot

ask for email/communication/even WhatsApp phone number
find other forums where its at
see if they sell elsewhere

Granted, some people hide it very well, and they are the ones who I would stay the hell away from.
If you are a legit freelancer/business, you wouldn't go through trouble hiding all your previous works

Definitely it's common sense to do due diligence, especially if spending large sums of money.
Also congrats on getting jr executive dude! I didn't even realise :suspicious:
