    Hey Guys,

I need some suggestions to network with people in the medical industry. How do you normally pitch to people in your target industry?

I am already doing these -

    - Local Medical Directories

    - Linkedin

    - Medical College Student blogs

    - Medical Magazines

    - Medical Journals and publications

Anything else which I missed where I can get to connect with people in the medical industry. If anyone can share his/her networking experiences please :) Plus reps and thanks to all good suggestions :)

Medical experts live in a totally different world. They have no time for normal activities like other common people. Even when online they will get busy learning more about their field, get some free things (including links to advanced techniques, related applications, etc.) which matters to them in their field of expertise, and will be comfortable only with their friends. Once you're in their inner circle, then they will open up.

I don't think you will find them on simple medical related forums... they have no time for going there (they: medical doctors, scientists, manufacturers, products manufacturers, lab technicians, and so on)...

So think how you can get inside their inner circle.;)

    $0.02 only :D

They don't normally participate in forums, and those forums where they do, you need a medical degree to get in some of them. Which I don't have, basically I am helping a guy in the medical niche to create a authority search engine and want to market it via the medical community and get feedback and promote the product.

You can ask the top forums' admins (where the best medicos are members) to place your related adverts on their "esteemed" forums. Create a very high-quality demo or a banner of the product, and give them some free SEO help for allowing your ads, for example. Ask your doctor friend (a famous cardiologist friend and his recommendation to the admin would be your best bet) to recommend you to the admin.

Everyone loves to be on the first page in Google, and their niche is a very special one -- they need to impress their learned members a lot, and those forum or Group admins may be more medicos than IMers.

Attack this angle and see if it helps!:)

    P.S.:
You can create a free website for the cardiologist friend. Sell him the hosting and maintenance though...

To meet a cardiologist and become his best friend, a GP friend who refers the most patients to him would greatly help.

Yep, they know shit about SEO or Digital Marketing, rather they know shit about tech stuff going around except that in the medical industry, its very easy to impress them with some Digitial BS and get them on board by helping them market their services.

Will try this angle, thanks for the suggestion :)

The medical representatives are best for offline networking. My cousin is only a MR, but the way he meets these top doctors... he even walks easily into their homes and kitchens without restrictions! The doctor wives are his fans actually because he can talk on any topic that they wish to speak on, and he usually nods to their suggestions every time they have one.

I think his knowledge about medical procedures and medications surpass the doctors'... so if you find such a MR, make him a friend and visit the consulting rooms with him somehow. Then you can throw in your product, the doctors will definitely have that extra time to listen to you because of this super MR friend of yours.:)

Ah well, this product is a web app which targets the international market, so am not sure how much an MR could help :), but I will keep that in mind. I wanted to network online rather offline, as online is faster and easier to scale and manage.

Better target the MRs then for a commission. They can be your best sales force amd easier yo recruit than the meds! See if something's available on Twitter in this line.
    OR
CL: 100+ openings! Local working MRs required, top online product, Easy xx% Commission, no hard work required. Valid only until xxx xx, xxxx (put day after tomorrow's date)...

Now do you see what I am seeing about the MRs' usefulness?;)
