.net vs. Parked .com's

I was wondering, is it smart to purchase a .net domain name, if the .com for it is just being parked?

For example, ultimategamingpc.com is parked. If you were to target "ultimate gaming pc" - would you purchase ultimategamingpc.net?

Of-Course..for a parked domain it is not even an issue.
