    I recently obtained a new customer who I am in the process of moving onto my hostgator reseller account.

    I firstly created their account using their domain name under my hostgator reseller account. I copied the website files over and created a test email account. (test@domainname.com)

    I've changed the name servers with the domain registra.

    When I go to the website, it is now pointing to the new server correctly.

    However, when I send email to test@domainname.com it just bounces, and the email address coming back indicates that it is trying to send to the old host's mail servers. So its as if the nameservers are correctly being used for the website, but not for email.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Did you try contacting Hostgator's live help?
    They are usually extremely useful with things like this.

    According to me you have to create the mail ID from your CPanel again.

    HG's live support is really good, try it.

    Not sure it is anything from the hostgator side.....if I send an email it is arriving at the old hosts mail server, so it must be DNS related.

    I have spoke to them and they have suggested to wait 24-28 hours for the DNS changes to kick in.

    ok, chatting to hostgator and they have confused the hell out of me;

    (10:04:37 AM) James So: I would give it a little more time and see if it fixes it self, sounds like the old host hasnt updated their DNS records yet
    -----------------

    I own the domain name, and I have changed the name servers to use hostgators....suerly the whole idea of this is so that the old host doesnt have to do anything..... or am I totally missing something?
