    Hello Everyone,

I started a Gamer Publication website about 5 months ago that has been growing but at a slow and steady rate. I've purchased some traffic and have started into various social media outlets.

We are trying to make money off our website through any means. We feel like we should be making money but we aren't yet and it's driving us nuts. Please if you have advice, please let me know!

    Our stats are:

    4,707 visitors / day141,210 visitors / month1,694,520 visitors / year23,394 pageviews / day701,820 pageviews / month8,421,840 pageviews / year

You said you purchased traffic, is this traffic real? If you purchased "real" traffic, are you sure the person you bought the traffic from is sending you real traffic and not bot traffic? If you're getting 141,000 visits per month with no sales or money generated there your traffic is definitely something I would question.

hmm I will dig more into that. It's hard to say. I was also running adsense ad's but not many on the site itself. Adsense doesn't seem to do anything at all.

If this is a "Business" site which is what it sounds like, then you're not going to want to monetize the site with AdSense ads. Unless it's a content or informational based site, I wouldn't suggest using AdSense.

When I first started my site, I bought a lot of cheap traffic that simply was not real... That being said, it should be impossible to make money from ads on your site, buy buying traffic from other sites. If you are paying ten cents a click for easy math, only 1:30 or 1:100 are going to click on your ads. You can't sell your traffic for 30 to 100 times more than you buy it for.

So you need think... How are you going to make money? And how are you going to drive traffic?

I spent years working on my site. I had many partners who quit. I had many people that thought we should sell it. I tried to raise money over and over again.
I'm so glad I kept with it. In the process I sold and killed other ideas and other businesses that proved to be not good ideas. If you are certain in your idea is a viable business, stick with it. It's also good to challenge your own ideas and always be working on new ones.

Yes, people selling "traffic" can definitely be a bit sketchy. You'll definitely want to look into that.

I don't think Adsense pays that much in the gaming niche, but you can accomplish anything if you get enough real targeted traffic. My suggestion is if you do have real traffic, start checking over your conversion rates and if they are too low, then try to find ways to increase them such as changing around the placement of your ads, etc.

It doesn't sound like you're that focused on Adsense. We may be able to help more if you wanted to get back to us with how you're currently monetizing your site.

well right now we are going to try loopme. They approached us to start their adverts. We recently ran impressions test with Ruteken and the only advert we placed did 16k impressions in a day with 10 CTR. We have an extremely unique niche in the gaming world and we are expanding it trying to find sponsors, exclusive tournaments etc. We recently picked up a free contest where the game company is promoting us in their social media to their 10m+ users.

I feel as if I am just trying to monetize incorrectly. Basically our adsense had only made 9.00 over the 4 months it was installed.

Some of the traffic turned out to be botted by ~70% is real it seems like.

Also, I use almost 0 in article adverts and only 2 spaces for my own adverts. I have 2 other spaces for trade off adverts with companies that give us free things for free advert space.

at $9 in 4 months, I think you need to ask yourself, "Any other ideas?" - respectfully.

I totally agree. That's why I got rid of adsense. We are switching to something a bit better for the gaming niche.
