    Hi folks
    So here's the thing:
One of our clients recently relaunched two of their online shops. These shops are very similar to each other, however, they target a difference audience and sell slightly different products (shop 1 sells perfume, eau de toilette etc., shop 2 only sells perfume etc. by very specific, extremely expensive brands).

Today, two months after their relaunch, the pages indexed for shop 1 dropped by almost 50% equaling 20,000 websites. At the same time, shop 2 gained 25% equaling 5,200 sites.
They both have the very same setup (although the design is different), they both migrated to Magento CMS, use the same ERP system. I do know that they still got a lot of technical issues to fix after the relaunch; however, if these issues were the cause for any change in the pages indexed by Google, I wonder why these shops do have these different results. Since they have both been built on the same platform, they both have got the very same issues.

Anyone out there who could tell me how I can find out the cause for these differences?

    Thanks in advance.

Check the quality of your pages and look for any duplicates. Each of your pages should essentially have unique content and have unique meta tags.

Since the products of each shop are entirely different, though in the same industry, there shouldn't be any duplicates between those two shops.
However, I just realised there might be duplicates or near-duplicates within the shops, since they got issues with their new ERP system, which is why they stupidly draw data from both the old and the new ERP system into the website. Thanks for reminding me to look for duplicates.
