Hey there, I need to register a dot com dot au domain name but am not an Australian citizen nor do i have my business registered in AU. Does anyone have any idea on how to go about this?

Most AU domain name registers require one to have an ABN which is like a US tax No. but I don't have. If you have experience in registering an AU or other international domain names, please share.

    Thanks

Try fake name gen and a vcc. They show a ssn for australians, presume thats the ABN.

Use whatever details you need to with the vcc 'anonymously'

    UPDATE...and an aussie proxy!

i'd registered with a fake VCC and entered a fake ABN. That's the australian business number. The registars did not approve my registration saying:

"We are unable to find "xxxxxxxxxxxx". Please ensure that you provide a valid ABN or ACN number."

Does this mean they countercheck the ABN or ACN numbers before registration?

I'll repeat what I just shared in another similar thread... Many registrars will offer a "Trustee" service where they will use their information to meet the requirements for you. Hexonet, 101Domain, and EuroDNS all offer this service.. You'll have to see if it's available for AU domains.
